Apr 30, 2010

After only a few hours of sleeping, I spent much of the morning going through my giant pile of flash cards for Art History II. Way too much to learn for one exam. I eventually switched back to Modern Art studying since that test was first.

We met up with Hottle and he took us to two computers where we each had our own private screening of the test. I think I did well like I always do on his tests but I know I screwed up the unknown artist section on at least one. Overall I was pretty happy with that test.

I studied some more for the next test and then met Adelson, who took me into the conference room to do his test. I was surprised at how many of the works I actually knew. I guess that last minute studying paid off. I hope I did better than on the first test.

I met my grandmother at Chili's for dinner. I had some of that delicious soup and a veggie burger. It was a rodeo burger.. Burger King may have the copyright on that name but they're all the same. Sarah was working so we got good service.

I came home for about a minute and then headed back up to pick up Joanna and go to Philly. We walked around for a while because the weather was so nice. She went into the Troc to see Converge but I stayed out longer to enjoy the beautiful night. I walked over to Samosa for a smoothie and had some rock candy, which left me wanting more rock candy! I need to get some..

I went in after Converge finished to see Thursday. They were really good as always but I was just not in the mood for it. I got into the last two songs, which were Jet Black New Year and Autobiography of a Nation. Great ending songs. I wish I could have enjoyed it a little more but there will be more.

I came home and zoned out watching shows and lying with the cool breeze coming in from outside. I fell asleep quickly. I had pretty much forgotten that I barely got any sleep last night until the point where I was nodding off.

Apr 29, 2010

I wrote a paper in the morning when I got up and then I went for a run around the neighborhood. It was strange running in the daytime around my house. When I got home I realized I needed to do a collage for Modern Art. I threw one together pretty quickly and this is what became of it.

I came to Westby to glue things and ran into Brian, Justin and a new friend, Stephanie, who wanted to play frisbee. We played out in the field for a while. The wind was against us though, making the frisbee hover way above our heads even if we threw it well. It was a nice day to play outside though.

I was starving so we walked down to the Chinese place and I got veggie lo mein and an egg roll. Brian says, "Show me hunger!"

We had our final Graphic Design class tonight, so sad. We looked at our poster designs and talked about what to do for our finals. No more big head nods, no more horses (morses), no more totally and no more humbuhguh.

After class it was study time. Hottle came in and talked to us for a while, delaying my study time but possibly giving me an opportunity for the summer... more on that later. I printed out my study cards and looked over them for a while.

I have two finals tomorrow. Still studying. I haven't even started studying for the second one, Art History II, on which I'm sure I will do poorly. I can't take that class. Ugh. Wish me luck.

I came up to Westby a little early so I could precariously carry all of my works in to put in the BFA review. I had to show six works to be judged to be accepted into the BFA program.

After my final Art History II class (woo!) I went with Katie to Zizi's Vegan (or Amiani's, as it is called now) for lunch. We got vegan chicken cheesesteaks and brought them back to Rowan to eat for lunch.

I came to my last Photojournalism class a little late, where I gave my final presentation about my sister and Aiden. I don't know if it was as good as my slaughterhouse idea but Jerry seemed to like it. After we finished some other presentations, we got out early again.

I took some time and set up my sculpture final. I added a few last minute things and turned on the DVD. It's supposed to represent me and the most important things about myself. The video screen had rapidly switching images to show my constantly racing mind, the iPod was over my heart, the camera made one of my hands and pens made my other one.

The Sculpture class came up and looked at our final pieces. Joanna used a camera under a cloth that we had to focus on images that represent her on the wall. Both of our pieces went over very well.

We critiqued the box in the Sculpture room also. It was one of my favorite of the year. There were candles all over and each person that entered had to hold a lit candle as well. All of the thumbprints on the wall represented 64 abortions that would occur any given day around the world. The warmth in the box and the serious statistics made it a really interesting presentation.

Ryan and I met up later and did the Cub. It was a nice night so we wanted to take advantage of that before my trip. This is the wall jump portion.

I'm sure everyone wanted some more visuals of the Cub so here are a few. This is the wall climb. The awkward part is when we got to the top and had to squeeze through a small opening at the top of the wall.

The flip over the bar is always fun. I have a hard time regaining my equilibrium when I flip and then start running again. Ryan killed me this time around. I did a little worse than last time and Ryan made a new record with 4:03. I'm gonna have to work hard to beat that one.

We had a straight running race around the school, which was a good ending. I won that one by a second. I had to win at least one before we went home.

I went home and figured out what I need to do tomorrow and then got to sleep watching How I Met Your Mother.

Apr 27, 2010

I began the day by having blueberry waffles and melting pens together to create a hand for my sculpture project. I think the fumes made me a little out of it for a while.

I headed up to school early to get some work done and spent most of my time trying to figure out where to hang my sculpture once I decided to slightly change it and then trying to learn how to use Adobe Encore to make my DVD for the project. I stopped for a lunch break when we went over to the office and had a burnt sort-of-falafel. Nothing really compares once you've had Maoz (or Cheapz).

I found a suitable home for my self-portrait in the photo room. I hung things up to make sure they would work out and then I removed all of the valuables that would surely be stolen if left overnight.

I had Modern Art and then by the time Graphic Design started, Brian and I were starving so we ordered a pizza to eat while watching people's presentations. My poster went over really well, everyone liked it as much as I do.

This is it. I feel like it's pretty self-explanatory. I plan on doing some more in this series and hanging/posting them all over. Feel free to take it and post it anywhere if you'd like.

Once the long critiques were over I spent the rest of the night cutting, pasting and mounting all of my work for the BFA review. I think it all came out looking pretty good but I was tired of looking at it after a while.

It was time to catch up on Glee and fall asleep after that was done so I could get up to Rowan early.

Apr 26, 2010

I came a little late to Art History but I made got to school in time to fill out my time sheet before they went off. We looked at a few people's assignments in Photojournalism and got out early for the first time since week one I believe. I couldn't really work on anything in Sculpture so I talked to Tom and then headed home.

I tried to get some things organized but mostly ended up watching Breaking Bad and having something to eat when I got home. I went down to shoot my sister and Aiden again when it got close to his bedtime. The photos were coming together pretty well for a story but I had to have my sister act out a few scenes... shh don't tell anyone.

I came home and looked through the photos to pick out the best ones and went to bed pretty early. I think I always get to sleep earlier when I have things to do.

Apr 25, 2010

The whole day was rainy, rainy. I didn't feel like doing much but I went to shoot my sister and Aiden as my backup photo story since my previous idea about shooting a farm/slaughterhouse fell through.

Once I got a decent amount of shots for that I went to my mom's for dinner. We had mac and cheese with broccoli. We talked about the trip and what I'd be doing after, etc.

The rest of the night was spent getting some things done/lazing about. The rain never stopped. Busy but boring day. Woo.

Apr 24, 2010

I worked on a new poster design in the morning and then went to play tennis with Ryan. I was not doing well. Can't win 'em all.

I came home and continued packing things up, slowly emptying my rooms of all their content. They fit well into boxes somehow.

After working on posters, and eating delicious curry rice vegetable stuff with crepes for dessert, at Katie's, I met Ryan at Corson Park to do the Gauntlet. It's been a while but basically what we do is turn a playground into an obstacle course and race each other for the best time. Ryan won this round.

We went to Reick Avenue school to do the Cub, which is a much longer obstacle course/run. There is a rock wall, stairs, pushups, sit-ups, a hurdle, a tree slalom and a lot of running. I managed to win this one with a time of 4:18.

As you might imagine, doing those courses several times in a row can be extremely exhausting. And I fell asleep pretty much the moment I got in bed.

Apr 23, 2010

I worked at the Senior High in the morning for an English class. They didn't give me too much trouble. I read a lot of my new Klosterman book (not the new one... though I want that one). I had coverage on my break, which is always annoying but I managed to get away long enough for lunch.

I didn't have much time after work before Dan met me at the house and we went to Hangar 84 to load in our gear. After load-in we left for a while and then came back with Chuck to find out when we played and all that.

We hung out in and around Jeff's car in the parking lot, waiting for our friends to show up so we could sell them their tickets but not many people came, including the ones who said they were going to be there... it happens. I did get a free cough drop though. Eventually we had to call it and head in to get ready.

We played to a crowd of about thirty probably. It just wasn't a big drawing show in general. We didn't play at our best, it was a little slow but we haven't practiced in a while either. At least there weren't many people to disappoint!

I was determined to have a good time playing whether there were a lot of people or not. And I did have a really good time, so I accomplished my goal.

I came back to my house with Chuck and watched the AG DVD that I got the other day. People began to show up and we hung out and had a few drinks until Katie got back with Cranium.

It always ends up being a fun time when we play that. My sister and a couple of her friends joined in as well. Chuck and Erika got a drawing clue where Erika had to draw "tea bag" and Chuck had to guess what she was drawing. His first guess was "the big dipper." I'll leave you with that.

Whenever there was a Club Cranium (where all the teams play at once), Ryan and Carissa would kick our asses. They just seemed to get it right away. The humming/whistling ones didn't always go as well...

Katie and I were on the fast track most of the way and we won! Everyone cheered. Not so much for us but for the fact that they could go to sleep now that it was over.. it was a somewhat long game of Cranium.

I cleaned up the living room a bit and then I was ready to go to sleep as well.
