Aug 31, 2009

Katie and I went up to Rowan to get some things we needed before the first day of school and stopped at the welcoming festivities going on at the intramural field. We got some water ice that wasn't very good and then joined in an egg throwing contest.

I broke the egg somewhere around the fifth round. Don't throw fragile things to me.

We competed in this inflatable obstacle course... I'm not sure why it's western-themed.. We tied.. but I'm still recovering from an injury..

When we got back to town I met Ryan for a game of disc golf. We played a very staggered game trying to avoid different people on the course that were either in the way or moving slowly. I had a decent game but not great.

I went back to Katie's to have a seitan chicken cheese steak that was so good. Then we picked some raspberries from the garden out back and I ate one with a Hershey's Kiss. Good combo.

After a while we headed back up to the field at Rowan for the screening of the new Star Trek movie. It was a chilly night out; I was wearing a hoodie. It was cool to sit outside and watch it under the stars. I thought the movie was great too. It was my first time seeing it.

It felt like I did a lot today. It was fun stuff and I'm looking forward to going back to school.

Aug 30, 2009

The weather was really great so I wanted to get out and take a bike ride. It wasn't as long as I intended it to be but it was nice anyway. I went to the mall and saw Jen and Micah for a little while as he attempted to show me that he can walk now.

I picked up Jordan, went to Katie's, met Chuck at Rowan and then we all headed into Philly for dinner at the Bubble House. Don't get the icee version of bubble tea. Or jellies. Weird. The food was great as always and the waitress gave Katie a high five for her order but none of the rest of us...

We went over to the bar in the next room for a little while and didn't watch the football game that was on. We pretty much spent our time there drinking a couple beers and discussing what else we could possibly do.

We made a decision and left the bar, heading out of center city.

It was a nice time to drive and we ended up going to Target. It was exactly like the one we have at home but we really had nothing else to do so we browsed the shelves for games and dvds.

After a while of that we came home. I was tired really early so I got to bed by midnight.

Aug 29, 2009

After being up really late last night, I got up early this morning to go to Rowan to get Demetri Martin tickets. I came home after that and went back to sleep for a few hours. My grandmom wanted to take my sister, Devin, Aiden and myself out to eat so we went where every vegetarian loves to go: Outback Steak House. I got a lettuce wedge and some really good pasta while I played with Aiden. He almost got two whole orders of chicken fingers! He has a system where he eats a piece, then throws one on the floor and then eats another piece and so on.. it seems to work for him..

I had several choices of things to do at night but those choices started narrowing and I'm glad I chose to go to Carissa's house for her gathering. We went swimming and played volleyball with beach balls. It was a lot of fun. It was Ryan and me versus the five girls that were there and we won! Rematch? Oh yeah, we won that too... re-rematch??

After we all eventually got out of the pool, we changed and came inside for games. We played Apples to Apples first, where there is a judge and everyone chooses one of the cards in their hand to match the adjective card the judge puts out. The judge then decides which person's card is best described by that adjective... there were some questionable calls... Jamie... but the game was a lot of fun.

Next, we played a game called Smart Ass where a person, place or thing is slowly described generally to more specifically and you have to guess what it is. During this game, I ate some pizza and far too many brownies.. Katie showed up as well and joined in the game. We decided to call it a night after that game and go home.

Katie caught me up on her trip to Ukraine before she went home and I stayed up watching Psych before actually going to sleep.

Aug 28, 2009

It was a rainy, rainy day so there would be no spending time outside. I went up to Rowan to watch Office Space with Shannon and then we went to Saladworks to get food. They had a really good vegetarian chili. While we were there it started to rain even harder so we waited until it calmed down a little bit before running to the car.

Later I met up with Jackie and we drove around drinking tea, aimlessly looking for something to do but finding nothing besides looking at restaurant menus and going to Target for a while. After that I went back to Shannon's to watch more movies. The rain had pretty much stopped but it still felt like a good scary movie night. We watched Identity first, which is basically one of the only scary movies I own, and then we watched The Ring. Not even as creepy as I remember it being.

I guess I made good use of the rainy day; at least I have something of an excuse for staying inside and watching movies this time..

Aug 27, 2009

I had the morning and early afternoon to kill so I decided to take a bike ride.. ya know, for something a little different. After dropping off some important documents, I headed down 47 South until I got to the Mauricetown bridge area and I went over it.

I decided to stop at the waterfront area by the old bridge to rest for a little while since I was about midway through the ride. I found a nice shaded spot and sat down to have some water before getting back on the bike and heading back home. The trip ended up at 23 miles.

After having some lunch, I met Dave at his house to get ready to go to the show. Once our ride finally showed up we headed to Philly on what was to be a frightening ride. I dubbed this station wagon the "PSA Car." That's as much detail as I'll go into on here... I got out as soon as we got close and found my ebay buyer to give my extra ticket to and then we hung out in the lot.

Some of the girls we came with had their amateur tattoos on and they were actually really good.

I had one drink of Gatorade and vodka while Dave clearly had the rest of bottle...

This is the group of girls that I don't know that brought us to the show. There's Sara, Kate, Megan and that's all I remember. Sorry, ladies. I try.

My main mode of transportation in the parking lot was two mini skateboards that I used like roller skates. I almost fell a few times but I amused myself for a while.

Once Jamie got there we all headed in. Unfortunately, Chester French opened this show as well but their set wasn't long. Taking Back Sunday was up next and they were pretty disappointing. They played a few songs I wanted to hear but in general I was not thrilled with their set.

Weezer came out next in all white track suits and got right into their set. This was my first time seeing them and I didn't know what to expect but I was very impressed.

Rivers was crazy and energetic; he has a real stage presence. He can't dance, but that makes it fun (thanks for the pic, Jamie!) They played most (or all) of their singles but still left room for a bunch of others, mostly from the Blue album. They played My Name is Jonas and The Good Life, my two favorite Weezer songs. Totally awesome set.

Jamie and I were watching each others' backs in the pit because of all the crazies. One really tall drunk guy was just arching his back constantly... he looked drunk and possibly possessed. Can't say for sure.

It was finally time for the main event, Blink 182! They came out to Dumpweed again and played another good mix of new and old songs. I thought they were great. Tom was drunk and talking too much as usual but this time the video screens behind the band had an animation of the Blink bunny holding a sign that said "Shut Up Tom!" It was hilarious.

One highlight from this show that we didn't get in Vegas was Travis Barker's flying drum solo. He was elevated and tilted 90 degrees and still rocking the hell out of the drums. The man is amazing. He played in the air, hovering and spinning, for about five minutes before Mark and Tom came back out to finish the show.

At the end of Dammit, the crowd was showered in confetti to mark the end of another amazing night of Blink 182.

Mark didn't want to give up the stage, however, singing "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" to the crowd as everyone shuffled out. Tom just posed next to him... and then danced around a bit before finally leaving the stage.

The show was awesome, Dave managed to not get into a fight even though he tried really hard to and I came home walking rather than limping so I can't complain! I rode home with Jamie and we listened to 104.5 play a complete hour of just Blink and Weezer. We stopped at Wawa for cold beverages and I got some tasty Mac and Cheese. What a good night it was! Two down, two to go!

Aug 26, 2009

I had physical therapy early again and we added a new exercise to the regime that used this little square. It looks pretty harmless here, but there is a crossbar fulcrum under it that is used for balance. I had to do it both ways and I'm not good at either of them. I don't think my injury has anything to do with it, I'm pretty sure I just can't balance on the thing.

After therapy I took a bike ride to Vineland and eventually ended up at the Pizza Hut buffet for lunch with Mo. It was a quick lunch but I did have pizza with Olives covering it. Pretty good. After eating I slowly started riding home.

I rested for a while but I guess I hadn't gotten enough because I went for a ride towards Bridgeton on 49 and then headed back up Carmel Road to my house. It was a really nice afternoon for a ride. Motion City Soundtrack has been dominating my iPod.

After I got showered, Jackie picked me up and we went to Ocean City. I made her listen to MCS on the way and once we got there I did my usual double take to wonder what made me think it would be a good idea to go to the boardwalk. I never learn. Too many people, nothing to do.. I'd list more but that's enough. So we walked to one end and sat on a bench for a short time before deciding it was time to go.

We walked back to the car on the street to avoid the crazy amount of people on the boards. On the drive home we listened to Sufjan Stevens (thanks, Chuck!) and enjoyed it. Despite the poorly planned destination, the night was fun.

Aug 25, 2009

Jeff wanted to meet up for lunch at Larry's so after I picked up NFG tickets at the mall I picked him up and we went. I got cream of carrot soup that was really great and an eggplant parm sandwich. It made me really full.

We met Ryan at the course and played the first six holes before Ryan took off and then on the very next hole, Jeff and I decided to call it quits as well and go somewhere with less bugs.

We came back to my house and played some Super Mario World and then Super Mario Kart. Since Jeff is going to be teaching seventh graders I figured he could use a refresher on what we did when we were that age... and still do today.

Later was Quizzo. Our competition was back.. though mostly just in name since most of the team wasn't there. Same for us, though, since it was just Chuck, Diebra and myself. We did not do well. We came in fifth place, losing to a team called "Last Place" or something to that effect. No prizes for us this time.. can't win 'em all.

I came home and watched some Psych before going to bed somewhat early.

Aug 24, 2009

I started the day out a little later than I originally thought, but still early at 9am. I did my usual routine at physical therapy. It's my last week but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do after it's done.

I went for a bike ride through Vineland. It wasn't too long, about twenty miles. I came home and got something to eat before going out again.

I met Ryan for a game. We were both doing really well at the beginning but ended up making some bad shots. We still both ended up with good scores in the end.

I went to the Ben with Chuck to work on our script for the third episode. We're easily distracted and there was a potential murder/guy-getting-keys-from-drunk-girl situation going on right near us. We did get some things written and I like the direction we're going with it now, it finally feels like a complete idea.

Ryan came over when I got home and we finished playing DK2. I stayed up for a while watching Psych before finally deciding to get to sleep.
