Mar 31, 2009

I worked at Lakeside as a Spanish teacher for a short time in the morning. We watched a terrible movie, Sweet 15. Then, the nice weather prompted me, Ryan and Nate to play a game of disc golf before I went to class.

It also prompted my Aesthetics class to hold session outside on the steps of the building instead of in the classroom. It was entertaining because I could hardly hear the professor most of the time between the backhoe digging up the sprinklers, the announcer for the baseball game and the random music being played between innings.

I took my break to go to the Chinese buffet with Tracy since it had been forever. We got some good food and filled up on it before I had to go back to math class.

I rushed down to Quizzo to play a decent game and have some beers on the gift certificate from last week. It was a close game the whole time, we were tied for first with two other teams.

We let it slip a little in the last two rounds though, coming in third only ten points (one question) behind the next team. Oh well, free appetizer.

It was a nice busy day and the weather is getting nicer all the time.

I subbed for a special ed class today. It wasn't what I thought it would be. We watched CSI all day long. Not a bad way to get paid.

I had school all night after that, developing photos and working on some collages in my Digital Media class. I feel like I only use the stuff I already knew about Photoshop while making things for that class.

Vegan cheesesteaks were consumed after class. They were fantastic as always.

Mar 29, 2009

In the afternoon, I met Ryan and Nate for agame of disc golf. I did pretty well and it was a great day for playing.

Later, I met Johanna at the Oarhouse for a beer. She had a Guinness, not me.

I also took some pictures of her with my 35mm for my portrait/lighting assignment. The lighting in the bar was pretty awesome.

There was a lightning storm going on outside so I went out to check it out. Half the sky was dark and full of lightning and behind me was clear and you could see the stars and moon.

There were some amazing bolts of lightning.

This went on for a while. I stood outside and then retreated to the beer garden to continue watching it until it died down and stopped. I went to Katie's after the bar to have some food and watch the Office.

Ryan and I got up early and headed back to Tyler Disc Golf Course for our first Tournament. We registered and took some practice shots before we were rounded up and put in groups.

We met our third and headed off to our first tee. We hung up our bags and waited for the official start.

We started on hole one, which was lucky for us because it was close. We played through all 27 holes, learning some things about tournament rules while we were at it. The guy with us was nice and helpful so that was a plus.

I finished the first round in the low 90s. We took a break for lunch and went to the grocery store to eat at the salad bar. We returned and did some practice until it was time to start round 2. Ryan and I were separated by score into other groups.

The next round was only 18 holes and the group wasn't as fun just because they weren't very talkative. I had a good time anyway though and a pretty good game. I finished that round in the 60s and ended up with a final score of 160 for the tournament.

After we finished and handed in the scorecards we waited in the pavilion for the tally and announcement of winners.

I ended up tied for eighth place in my division and was awarded with a free Roc with Tyler Park graphics. I was happy enough with that prize.

Later, Katie and I went to hang out with Christie and Tracy. We watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall and drank a good amount. We tried to play Wii for a while but that got old fast. We had a lot of fun just hanging out and laughing though. Good day.

Mar 27, 2009

I subbed for History at the Senior High in the morning. I had to cover for a Spanish teacher at one point, where I found this penguin with pants and all his parts labeled in Spanish.

Nate and I went for a game after work where we saw the broken disc we found the other day moved, so I set up a memorial for it.

After the game I went to get ready and met everyone for a quick practice at Jeff's, then we headed to Bridgewater Pub to load in.

We set up but were having some technical difficulties with tuning and sound.

We brought in the experts to help.

And we finally got it set right.

We started our set eventually, playing a lot of songs we hadn't played in a while.

We played our older covers of Journey and Dave Matthews Band.

We played some of our new songs like "You're in Nassau" and "That's Why You Always Leave a Note." They went well.

We played some Blink 182 covers, which Dave came up to help us out with. That was a lot of fun.

We even got a request (from Dave) for Taking Back Sunday's "There's No I in Team" and we obliged. We finished up with a new cover and some originals.

It was a good set, then we mingled with the crowd.

We checked out the next band, PROTEST, who had us out. They were all great guys and their music was good bar tunes too.

We all decided to go to Applebee's after the show. I got a big plate of quesadilla without bacon. We stayed until no one else was in the place and they were basically begging us to leave. Our waitress hated us, we had ten people, I think... Jennell, Jamie, Nate, Katie, Chuck, SamnJeff, Christie, her cousin and me.. yep, ten.

I had a great time playing the show. It was nice to finally play again after three months off. They actually liked us I guess because they booked us for another show in the near future!

I subbed for an English class at Memorial in the morning. I had a co-substitute for the first period but all we did the whole day was watch videos on Zeus and Aphrodite and they had to write an essay. I got some reading done.

I went to Rowan for a long time after work and then came home to watch The Office and have dinner.

I was a math teacher at Memorial in the morning. It was a pretty good day for the most part.

I skipped out on my Photo class to play some Disc Golf with Ryan and Nate. I headed up for my Moral Problems class after that though. Another long night of lecture.

Fantastic.

Mar 24, 2009

I spent the morning working on finishing the paper that was due for Aesthetics class and I finished right before I had to leave. We didn't do much in that class either besides watch an opera version of Looney Tunes.

After my break and math class, I went down to Bennigan's for Quizzo. We were on fire all night. We got so many answers somehow and we won first place! It's only exciting because the woman that's always talking shit got put in her place for once, then started making excuses when we won. Because "there's eight (seven) of us." It felt good.

We also were awarded a thirty dollar gift certificate to use next time we go.

Mar 23, 2009

Senior high job today as a Math teacher. The day went by pretty quickly and I got a good amount of my paper done while there.

I left early to go to a meeting with my adviser at Rowan. I learned that I'm much closer to graduating than I thought. Sweet. We had a photo critique for about an hour, then I practiced some Russian before going to the always dreaded Digital Media class.

Once we finally were able to skip out of that class, we went and go falafel at Maoz and then came back. It was tasty and filling.

I made this flyer for the show we got at Bridgewater Pub. We just found out about it today and we're going to be able to play it so come out!

I need to get some sleep so I can finish my paper in the AM.
