Nov 30, 2008

It was an extremely rainy day all day so I spent my time in my room, cleaning. Yes, that's what it looks like post-cleaning so you know it must have been bad before. I just sorted a lot of things out and I have bags of clothes and trash to take out soon. And that damn disco ball needs to go!

Since Falafest didn't happen on Friday, we used today as the rain date..... yeah. Anyway, we went up and found parking so Chuck could prove that he can consume two whole falafel sandwiches. He's on his way to winning a free lunch. I'm just gonna get some business cards.

We came back to my house and hung out for a little while before calling it a night.

Nov 29, 2008

It was a pretty nice day out again so I got Chuck and went over to the course for a game. It feels like it's been a while since I've played with someone else. We had a good game, except that so many of our putts hit the chains or basket and fell out.

I came home for the traditional Saturday Thanksgiving with the family. Aiden's first Thanksgiving as well. First time I had anything with any kind of animal product in it for a few days.

Katie came over after dinner and we had some of her pie and just hung out for a while with my sister and the baby. I was going to do something at night but nothing ever happened.

Unlike most people, I started my Black Friday by going to a few stores in the afternoon. I didn't buy anything. Then I went to the inspection station to get my car's failing sticker so I had an extra 45 days to get things fixed. By some amazing chance, my "Check Engine" light didn't come on while it was getting checked and it passed somehow.

My grandmom wanted to get some food so I suggested the usual and we got some lunch at Applebee's. The Kiwi Iced Tea is pretty good too.

I met Jeff and Sam later at the Millville Holiday Parade. It was cold out and I stood on the curb, watching trucks and what people considered floats go by for about an hour with Katie and Leeza.

These people are throwing candy to kids. It's strange that you're not supposed to take candy from strangers.. unless they're on a float? I guess people usually leave that last part off when they're warning children but somehow they figure it out.

After the parade we hung out in the bar for a while before going back to Jeff's house for our Thanksgiving leftover dinner party. We had leftovers from our dinner last night and Sam brought stuff that she made. The vegan pot pie she made was the best thing I've ever had.

We got to try some of the pie also. It was really good, but mildly dangerous because there are random pieces of aluminum foil in it that got stuck on some apples.

We hung out after getting really stuffed with leftover food and drank some beer, listened to music and talked for quite a while.

Thanksgiving part II was awesome. We also picked our Secret Santa names tonight so we have to be stealthy and buy gifts for certain people.

Nov 27, 2008

Well, first off, Happy Thanksgiving! So to give thanks I went out and played a full round by myself this morning. It was a beautiful day out for the season, I was actually getting pretty warm about halfway through the game. I was surprised to actually see a couple other players out as well. It was quite fun by myself today as well.

After the game I went to Katie's to cook dinner. This is our turkey.. er tofurky.

We cooked up some shrooms and a bunch of other dishes. I peeled down the potatoes and chopped the green beans then the real cooking started.

A tofurky doesn't take as long as a realturkey to cook, just a few hours of basting.

Once we were finished we had the "bird," stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy and cranberry sauce.

It was a delicious vegan feast. I got to cut the tofurky this year too...

With/after dinner I had a few Coronas. After that we just relaxed for while. It was a really filling meal and far too much food for two people.

We started a fire in the fireplace since it was cold in the house and hung out around that for a while. Katie made a Dutch apple cake/pie also but that will be for tomorrow..

Nov 26, 2008

Today started with me and Katie going to Deptford Mall to get some clothes. I tried on a bunch and got a few pairs of jeans and a shirt.

We went to Philly planning to get falafel, but we went for Whole Foods instead. They gave out a bunch of samples and had some really good fake chicken and mashed potatoes.

The city looked awesome behind us on the highway when we left.

We went to Trader Joe's, which took us forever in traffic and with all the stop lights on the way. We got some stuff there and headed back home, with Katie already late for work.

I came home and got ready to head out to the bar with Chuck. We went to Sidelines and met Sam there shortly after.

Tracy and Christie also were going out so we got to hang out with them.

These aren't our bottles but there were way too many people packed into the bar. We couldn't really move.

Chuck and I had a good time drinking Yeunglings and hanging out by the pool table that was converted to a regular table with piece of plywood on top of it.

We got somewhat drunk but not out of control like the people that were fighting and getting kicked out.

Chuck and I got some food at Wawa across the street and then retired to our homes to sleep it off before Thanksgiving.

After a little more than half of the school day, Alex and I left Expressive Drawing early to work on our project for 3D.

We hung up the leaf pictures and got the foam waves to submerge.

It was cold out, especially when sinking the waves in the water and the other two people from our group didn't even show up to help.

This is basically what it looked like in the end. The waves didn't end up the way we wanted exactly, but the leaves were cool.

We also had a pile of leaves on the ground. The critique went pretty well I think. The waves didn't come across that well as I expected, but many people liked the hanging leaf pictures.

We critiqued the rest of the class projects, including this one by Andrew's group. It had to do with some of the emergency poles not actually contacting the Rowan PD when you push the button, so there was a big question of whether it would really work if you needed it.

After all the critiques, I came home and watched House and The Shield finale. I was really tired from being up almost 24 hours so getting to sleep was easy.

Nov 24, 2008

I finally got to go back to work today! Most people probably aren't usually happy to say that, but I haven't been able to get a job for a while and it was nice to be back at work at Lakeside.

Another nice thing was filling up my gas tank when it was empty, with little red gas pump light on even, and having it only cost 22 bucks. Nice.

I met Ryan at the course to play an only mildly chilly round. I did okay, the wind was a factor but not an excuse. After I was finished, I went to Art History class for a very short time and picked up our take home test.. as if the tests could have gotten any easier.. they just did.

I came home and had dinner and procrastinated writing my paper some more. I was so tired I had to go to sleep at 8pm. I planned to get up but didn't set an alarm. I woke up at 2am and started working on my paper. Refreshed and with an odd sense of purpose, I finished the paper in less than two hours and it's pretty good. The image above is from Richard Serra's installation in Spain. He is who I did my research paper on.

Now that I'm done the paper, I think I'm going back to bed. I just hope I don't feel like crap in the morning now that I've slept in this weird pattern. Also I need to do some bs for my Figure Drawing class still.

Nov 23, 2008

I tried to do some research in the earlier part of the day for my paper but that didn't go so well, as I was doing the research on my computer where all sorts of procrastination material lives. So, I ended up watching things and then going to my grandmom's for a bit followed by my dad's so I could show him the slideshow DVD of pictures from the road trip. Then I took a few pictures by the lake and went home.

Later, since I wanted to get a little work done, we went to my grandmom's to work on some of the things we have due in Expressive drawing.

After finishing the fifty drawings that are due Tuesday, we wrapped up and called it quits to get some sleep.

Nov 22, 2008

I really did a whole lot of nothing today. I didn't even get up that late, I just didn't do anything. At one point in the afternoon I went over to the course and half a game. There was still snow on the ground from the other day. I intended to run after I played but I was cold with my jeans and sweats on, I didn't want to take either off. Most of the rest of the day I was either watching TV or doing blog stuff.

I had some plans for the evening but they fell through. I ended up going to Ryan's to go for a brisk walk around the Vineland neighborhood. We came back and played Mario Kart Wii for the first time since it came out basically.

It was good to get out of the house for a little while. Now that I've taken my contacts out I'm not even tired. I'll probably stay up watching Numbers instead of looking up information for my research paper.
