Jan 31, 2010

The snow had stopped falling but it was still covered outside so we stayed in for a while and then decided to go to La China Poblana for lunch. There weren't a lot of vegetarian options but we got enchiladas that were awesome. The sauce was great and the rice and beans were really good as well.

After lunch, we went to AC Moore so I could pick up a few more supplies that I needed and then to the mall so I could get a haircut. This is the result.

I went home for a while to shower and pick up some baked mac and cheese from my sister. We ate it and then played Palace and Rummy for a while.

We watched some Arrested Development before bedtime, finally.

Jan 30, 2010

After sleeping in and having breakfast, I headed to the gym for a couple of hours. I actually spent some time in the weight room this time as well as running.

It started snowing in the afternoon and was piling up pretty high quickly. It's funny that it was warm a few days ago. There wasn't much to do and I didn't want to go out into the snow.

I was planning on going to get art supplies but instead just ended up going to Joanna's with junk food and watching I Love You, Man and then some other things. I could watch that movie all the time.

Jan 29, 2010

I worked as an English teacher at Lakeside in the morning. The first class was somewhat out of control but the second two were surprisingly good. The day went slowly but I had off last period so I could leave a little early.

I had time to go to the gym for an hour or so after work so I ran for a while and did medicine ball exercises. It was good to be back at the gym.

When I got home from the gym Ryan came over and we picked up my amp at Jimmy's house. We brought it back and set up his drums while we waited for Chuck to get there. We ran through the Argyle Gargoyle songs as best we could.

Ryan knew some of them and used the songs on my iPod for the rest. We were a little rusty overall but it was fun to play again.

The rest of the night was fairly uneventful but it was a good day.

Jan 28, 2010

I went to the early Modern Art class since I didn't take a job. They were on the same track as we were so I could follow the information. I wish I could always take this class early.

After the early class I spent a few hours working on my squares project for Graphic Design. I took a break and ordered Chinese food to eat at the office with Joanna and Josh. Once it arrived an hour later we enjoyed it and I went back to working on it for another hour or so. I finished all but a few squares before I had to go.

I went down to the Westby Gallery to shoot the opening of Crossroads. There were a lot of really great sculptures including one by my Sculpture professor made of books. Several others were made of pipe, hose, matchbooks and keys.

The meticulous details in the works were really amazing. I shot all of the pieces and artists for the gallery and had some food before I had to go to class.

It turned out that my squares project wasn't due for this class but at least I got most of them finished for next week. We spent most of the class working on a drawing project. We had to draw a set of straight lines with Micron pens. It's harder than it sounds.

I went to Rowan After Hours for a while, then I hung out watching things online before going back to play skee ball and video games until I lost the raffle and left.

It was pretty late once we got back from the student center so it was basically time for bed then.

Jan 27, 2010

The morning began with Art History, which seemed to last a while and my laptop died during the class and I had to take notes by hand in the dark. I don't know why he feels the needs to keep the room completely dark. It's impossible to take notes without light. After class I went to my first Live Events committee meeting. We talked about the upcoming bands and speakers coming to campus and what we would be doing with them.

We had a guest speaker in Photojournalism who used to work at the Philadelphia Inquirer. He showed us a lot of his images from his years of work in Philly and abroad. He had some amazing shots and he was pretty inspiring. Having speakers who have worked in the field we're studying should be a really cool way to learn more.

After the speaker was finished, we had to go out and take photos of each other to show our stuff. We were told to get interesting so I climbed over the cement fence where the generators are kept to get some shots through the holes.

I got some cool shots through the crevices and holes and the rest of the group got some good ones of me climbing in and looking out through the holes.

The roof was open so we didn't want to pass up the opportunity to get some interesting shots. There were some good views up there and we got some good shots from up there. After the shoot, we went back to class to show our images.

Sculpture was fun; we started working on our wax pieces. It's interesting material to work with, as it's really hard to mold until you work with it for a while. We held it over a hot plate to make it easier to mold and started shaping our stuff. It took a lot of class but my snail is starting to come around.

After getting something to eat, I spent most of the night in Westby working on my Graphic Design squares project. After getting kicked out of the building because we were there too late, we watched some tv while looking over photos and planning for the next day.

Jan 26, 2010

I worked in the morning at the Senior High as an art teacher. I had three classes in a row and then I was done by 12:30. I left and had lunch before heading to school.

I had Modern Art and then I went to Graphic Design for a little while before I left to go to the High Street Gallery to shoot photos.

The opening was an expansion of the gallery that I went to at Progressive last month. There were a lot more photos on display that were really interesting. I took a lot of photos for the gallery and got at least a handful of good ones. After shooting, we hung out and had some food for a while before I went back to my class.

After class we stayed in the computer lab for a while working on things. We watched some tv before it was bedtime.

Jan 25, 2010

Oh, early morning class. I had Art History II in the morning, where we mostly did more review before getting into a little bit of new material.

After a short break we had Photojournalism. We spent most of the time looking at photos and talking about basic photography elements. It was pretty slow. We got some quick food after class and before Sculpture, where we talked about our upcoming projects. They're coming up quickly.

I went to a meeting for a new campus publication called Rowan on the Record but it seemed like a group of amateurs and they didn't explain much about the project at all. It was disappointing but I'm still going to stay on their list in case something good comes up.

I went to Olive Garden with Jimmy after the meeting. I got portobella raviolis again. They were delicious. We had a good time.

I came back to hang out with Joanna and watched too many episodes of a cake show on Food Network. All the cakes looked delicious. It made me want Rice Krispie's treats because they used them on almost everything.

Jan 24, 2010

I went to the Looking Glass in the morning with my mom for breakfast. I haven't seen her in a while so we had a chance to talk while I had a breakfast burrito and she had these delicious looking crepes. I wish I got those..

I picked up Joanna and we headed to Carousel Park in Delaware to play disc golf. It was nicer than the last time we were there even though it rained a little bit when we first got there.

The course was still difficult but fun. Joanna couldn't keep her discs out of the water but we both steered clear of the the big pond. There were at least three discs out on the ice that we couldn't reach as well. Too bad.

I had an awesome drive on hole 16 where I put it about ten feet from the basket. I missed the putt though. No luck today.

We found our way to Iron Hill to play as much as we could. It was raining a bit when we got there but it stopped shortly after. The course is always muddy as it is but it was even more so this time.

Joanna made an amazing putt from about thirty feet through the trees. It was awesome. We played to hole nine and then headed out so we had time to get dinner.

We went down the road to Home Grown. This time we got a lot less food. I got a veggie burger that was really good.. not the best ever though.

We went to Harmony Grange for the acoustic show and got there just before Vinnie Caruana went on. He played a handful of Movielife songs, I Am the Avalanche and solo things. He was really good and funny between songs while he tuned his guitar. He seemed a little disappointed in the crowd not singing along with him but he looked like he was having fun.

JT from Hawthorne Heights played in after Vinnie but he was pretty annoying; bad songs and he talked too much. Anthony Raneri (of Bayside) came out right after him and got right into the songs. He knew what we were there for. He played a lot of great songs. Only a few of his own solo stuff, mostly Bayside songs and a few great covers.

The set was pretty long and everyone was singing along. Anthony seemed really grateful to everyone for coming. It was cool to hear some explanations behind a few of my favorite songs as well.

The show was over pretty early so we came back and watched some tv before sleep time.

Jan 23, 2010

After taking a walk around the pond and playing a putting game with Erika in the morning, I picked up Joanna and went to Philly to get art supplies. Pearl was going out of business and there wasn't much left in the store but I took advantage of the big sale they had.

After stopping by Dick Blick to get the rest of the supplies that I needed for class, we went to The Bubble House for dinner. I got a red bean latte tea to drink with dinner. It wasn't bad but I prefer it as a flavor of Mochi.

I got the Coconut Thai Curry that I had before but it was even more delicious. Maybe because I hadn't had it in so long. The food was as good as the Almond Joy bubble tea we got for dessert. We hung out in the restaurant planning things for a while until the meter was up and then we headed back to Jersey.

I met Erika at Bennigan's to hang out and have some drinks at the DJ Dance Party. We didn't know that's what it was. It was still enjoyable and we stayed until it was almost over.

After talking to Ryan for a little while it was time to go home and get to sleep. Eventually.
