Feb 28, 2009

I thought it was nice out so I went to play disc golf in the morning. It was chilly, but I played the whole round anyway. I landed a deuce on hole 13 and ended up just one over par at the end of the game.

I went to the gym for a while after that. There were new treadmills that I like. They even have cell service on these ones...

After a shower, Chuck came over and we played some music, talking about the band and what were were doing, then we wrote some of episode three of Don & Chuck.

Jackie and I were supposed to go to the movies but she didn't feel like it so we drove around for some time and then I came back home. I just played some Risk type of game with Ryan online and I think it's finally bed time.

I worked at Lakeside in the morning for a Resource Room teacher. I had an inclusion class with another substitute twice during the day and one of the other periods we went to the auditorium for a presentation of a musical about bullying. It was for kids, so it wasn't great but it was somewhat entertaining and made the time go by quickly. I did some grocery shopping on my break.

It had been beautiful out the whole day, so I went to the course with Chuck after work. It had already started getting chilly and windy out, but we played anyway. I went to the gym after the game, then went home to get ready to go falafeling.

The latest Falafest was a success. I hadn't been craving a falafel really, but it was great because I haven't had it in a while. Chuck's friend Caitlin came with us also and it was her first experience with the food. She liked. The weather was mild again so we could sit outside in the park and eat. It was nice.

We went to Yakitori boy after we ate for Hoegaarden and mochi ice cream. They gave us our own little room. It was awesome. Jordan really liked the soy sauce pot.

I was really tired when I got home and pretty much went right to bed. Good night it was.

Feb 26, 2009

Today was a very full day. I started off at Lakeside working as a "bilingual teacher," though I'm not sure I can take that title since I'm only monolingual, plus a little French and Russian. The kids were not crazy all the time and when they were, it was like white noise because I couldn't understand them.

I left there and went to Rowan where I had two meals in the lounge. I had lunch when I got there, then two classes, then I had dinner and left. During Art History, our professor spent ten minutes talking about the cat from Sabrina the Teenage Witch and then tried to keep lecturing after it was time to go as I walked by him.

I came right from school to Hangar 84 to work security again for the Mae show. A lot of good bands opened up, Luminous, Alert the Media, The New Sabrosa, Cassonova Brown and Walk of Fame. I enjoyed it all. I basically got to hang out with my friends, watch great music and get paid for it.

It was the singer's birthday so they brought out a cake and sang to him. Then, after taking a bite, he remarked how terrible the frosting was.

Katie brought some sweet cards for the band with Gary on them to pass out.

After the show we hung out in the green room for a while, eating and talking. Mae's singer continued eating the bad cake.

Some people were drunk Not me.

It was a long day but I enjoyed pretty much all of it.. save for the kids in the bilingual class.

Feb 25, 2009

I didn't get a job this morning, which was nice because I got to sleep in. I didn't want to waste my free time so I went to the gym. I kind of regretted it afterward because it was beautiful outside.

We had our first critique in Photo today. It was kinda nice having a critique again, I did kinda miss them. Mine are on the top right, even though they're hard to see in this image. Look below.
Again, not the best shot of these pictures but these are the three I presented for today's critique. The two on the left are for the "school" assignment and the one on the right is for "city." I like them.

After my Moral Problems class, I went and got sushi and went to my grandmom's so we could watch Important Things with Demetri Martin. It keeps getting better! So far, we have seen some of the skits/jokes from all of the episodes. It's great getting new Demetri every week.

Gay Beatle, please.

Feb 24, 2009

I worked at Lakeside in the morning with a math class. I had a Student Teacher in there with me so I didn't really do anything but catch up on my reading for class. I also hung out with Nathan for a bit while he was subbing in the class next door.

I went up to Rowan and continued studying over lunch until the time arrived to take the first Art History exam. It was a bitch, but I think I did pretty well.. except for the "unknown" paintings that we couldn't study for. That was crap. Then I had Aesthetics, a long break and then math.

Another night of Quizzo found us with less people but more answers. We had some beers and eventually some chips. Plus lots of fun trying to name all the Oscar nominees.

We placed third again! We need to study up on our random knowledge. At least we get another free appetizer next week.

I went to have Katie trim my hair a bit after I left Bennigan's.

She cut off more than that but it just didn't seem like much.

Do I look any different? I think I like it. The front is shorter and the back is way shorter, which is great because the back looked terrible. Now I just need to dye it again.

Feb 23, 2009

I had a basic math class at Memorial today. Some of the kids had worksheets but during the last period we watched Remember the Titans. I really like that movie but we didn't get to finish it all.

I had time to eat something really quickly after work and then rush to school for Photo class. I made my prints for this week's critique and then we had Digital Media where I think I actually lost some brain mass.

After that class finally ended, Andrew and I met Alex at the food area to study. We were hardcore, there for about three hours going over the minutia of sixteenth and seventeenth century art with our flash cards. I got a tasty mango smoothie also.

I can't remember the last time I studied this hard but I feel like it has worked really well and I might be ok for tomorrow's test.

Feb 22, 2009

Most of my day was spent studying or in preparation for studying. I printed out all the images for my Art History test on Tuesday and made flash cards with the names on the back. I tried doing that for a while then went shopping for food.

Later I went over to Katie's and had some eggplant with good sauce, but weird noodles, and I studied some more. I think I'm getting the pictures down pretty good. I wish I knew that this was my best study method when I was in high school.

Feb 21, 2009

It was a nice clear day and I decided to head over to the course. I invited Ryan and Nate only to find out it was the Ice Bowl. I completely forgot that it was today. We got there late and we didn't have to pay to play.

They set up several temporary holes, including bringing back the old hole 3. It wasn't the same though.

They also had several holes over water, leading to two discs out on the ice. This time we had my Golden Retriever though so we could (somewhat) easily get them back. It was actually quite fun trying to get them with the device.

Some of the new holes were more fun than the old ones. Hole 2 had a water hazard as well and one of Nate's ended up in the water. The Retriever works really well for grabbing discs in water.. as long as you can see them.

After a long 24-hole game, Nate and I went up to Philly because we had been craving a good hoagie for a while. We went to Sarcone's, highly recommended by Nate.

The sandwiches were awesome. I haven't eaten any meat in quite a long while so that might be part of it, but it was not your ordinary crappy town deli sandwich, it was a real hoagie.

Later on, Dave had a party. We had some drinks, played some beer pong and a dice game, and Dave, Jimmy, Cory, and Jesse tried to take the paddle boat out on the water. Jimmy and Jesse were sinking in the back of the boat. It was pretty great to watch.

We stayed out pretty late. There was drama, light beer, chicken wings, and gambling. What a good night.

Feb 20, 2009

I got a late call to work for a science teacher at Lakeside this morning which I gladly accepted. The teacher left after he fainted from high blood pressure, which I completely understood after dealing with his class for just a few minutes.

After work, I came home for a while and then we went to Mi Lah Vegetarian in Philly for dinner. I had a veggie pot pie that was great, but not as good as Sam's.

Katie got some kind of mushroom thing that was pretty tasty as well. It was a nice place and I'd really like to try almost everything on the menu.

I had to take a timeout after dinner to get some pictures of the awesome lights along Broad Street. They have been doing this for a while but tonight it seemed especially great.

After braving the cold for a few pictures, I took the highway down to Delaware to Mojo 13.

It was a pretty interesting theme bar with cheap Schlitz.

Our friend Julia from Me Talk Pretty showed up and hung out with us for a while before she had to go set up for their set.

They played a great show. They are an awesome band, if you haven't heard of them, you must check them out now. I hope we get the chance to play with them again.

It's late, I'm home now. I'm gonna fall asleep watching something and hopefully wake up to a warmer day tomorrow.
