Nov 30, 2010

We spent most of class talking about the current art market and the extravagant prices that contemporary art is being sold for at auction. We also got our first draft papers back. If I knew Hottle was going to go through it so thoroughly I would have done more proofreading. It's just a first draft so it doesn't count against me but I also didn't think he would be concerned with such detail on this draft.

I got a parfait for lunch with Brian and then had a meeting with Keith where we decided which photos to enter into a gallery competition in Philly. I edited my images and uploaded them to the site for consideration. We did our class evaluations for Web Design (yep, it's that time already again) and then went into the thing I complained most about on the form: a long, long critique that took up the whole class.

I got a new headlight and brake light for my car since they were both out at the same time. The brake was easy to fix, but the headlight was conveniently blocked by the battery. I had to drive home with one light out and get Chopper to help me out with it. I think they make it that way so you have to take it and pay someone to do it. Lucky I know someone.

I met Katie at Larry's to work on designs and exchange some ideas. We had green tea smoothies which are really just sugar and ice but they're pretty good. We got some things done and departed.

Chuck and I convened at Applebee's to talk over the pilot script of Don & Chuck. We got chips and dips while we discussed. We didn't actually rewrite anything at this point but we came up with some overall changes and some minor tweaks to the story.

I came home and read for a while, watched some things until a late hour and then went to bed.

I didn't want to get up this morning but when I did it was too late to go the gallery meeting so I spent my time working on designs for Typography. Class was just a work period and Jan gave us some feedback on our cover designs for the brochures. These are possibilities for the cover type (it's for the Rowan Writing Center), but I was thinking these things as well.

I spent some time in the sculpture studio hoping my casts would go better this time. I sat up there and read for a while as I waited for the plaster to dry but I took off before they had a chance. I'll check on them tomorrow.

I came home and got into a cleaning mood. I have to start packing up all my stuff anyway so I got right to it and cleaned out this closet and a bunch of other stuff. Things are once again separated into piles and I took out a few trash bags as I listened to Foo Fighters and Gratitude.

Working on photo editing, website making and reading for tomorrow now.

Nov 28, 2010

I got breakfast from Bagel U and went to a park in Vineland to sit and read while I ate. After a few chapters I went to Ryan's to play some Mario and get annoyed with the simplicity of some of the challenges in the game that confuse us. It's still fun.

I went home and read some more and went out for a run around town later. I ran about five miles before something in my shoe got too much to handle so I stopped and tried to fix it with no luck so I walked the rest of the way back to my house.

Shannon came down to watch last week's Dexter and then we watched the new one. The season is almost over and it's getting really good.

Nov 27, 2010

I got up pretty late and went to my mom's for Thanksgiving dinner part 2. It was reheated because they had eaten a few hours earlier but it was still good. I hung out for a while and had a slice of apple pie.

When I got back home I felt like being outside despite it being pretty cold. I parked downtown and walked around for quite a while taking photos.

I stopped for a while by the river to read. It was pretty peaceful. A Tale of Two Cities.

I went to Philly before the show and walked around there for a bit as well. I was mostly looking for a place to get tea near the Electric Factory and didn't find one so I sat in the car reading some more before I went in to see Bayside.

They played a lot of good stuff, new and old. It didn't seem like they played for very long but the songs were good, including a cover of "My Name is Jonas." The crowd wasn't great but I guess I could have expected such at this show.

I grabbed some food on the way home and watched Californication and now I'm going to read some more before bed.

Nov 26, 2010

Nathan and I went out to the course to play a game since the weather wasn't great for hiking. They have recently renumbered the course and added a couple of new holes to make up for the ones that were taken out from the flooding.

We had a good round, with me somehow almost acing the last hole. It's a considerable distance from the tee and I rarely get anywhere near this basket on my first shot.

I met Jamie at Kawa later for dinner. Her sushi was entertaining. I had the vegetable curry which I requested extra hot. It wasn't. It's never spicy at all actually. Those little peppers on the menu lie.

I picked up Shannon and we went to her friend's house in Brigantine where we played water pong for a while as we drank some beer. We lost a lot of games.

There was another gamed called Nemo that was suggested so we learned the rules and started playing. At that point a bunch more people had showed up so we were crowded around the table trying to bounce a ping pong ball into a cup before getting skipped. Either way I was enjoying my Troegs Rugged Trail.

At one point the game stopped completely so everyone could dance to Sandstorm. I was in the same position as the guy at the end of the table.

They called a cab to take us to Atlantic City so everyone had their last drinks or shots and got ready to head out.

We went to Ri Ra Irish Pub in the Tropicana where I had some lower quality beer and we danced to the cover band Sugarbuzz. They were pretty good but I always think that cover bands rely on everyone drinking and singing along to the songs.. which we were doing so it was fine.

We stayed there for most of their three sets. They played a lot of good songs and the girls got on stage with them at one point to dance and help sing. There were a few strange people in the crowd including an older guy that was dancing behind me for a while. He seemed pretty out of it.

We called the cab to take us back to the house and had the driver stop at Wawa for some much-needed food and water. After hanging out at the house for a while I dropped off Shannon and came home. Aside from some minor drama the night was a good time.

Nov 25, 2010

The morning was rainy and cold so I went for a run along the trails along the river. I should take those paths more often. I walked back after I finished my run to take photos. I got some nice nature shots.

I went to my mom's for Thanksgiving dinner. It was just her, Larry and myself. She made a vegetarian meal of course. It looks like I'm just having sides but that's basically all I eat anyway. The green bean casserole was really good.

This way the turkey is still safe when I'm done.. and the pumpkins. But I had pumpkin pie after dinner so that doesn't work.

Sarah and Ken came over with Aiden so I got to hang out with him for a while. I miss seeing him more often.

I spent a good amount of time at my mom's and it was later than I thought when I got home. I watched some shows, had some leftovers and eventually went to bed.

Nov 24, 2010

I slept in after not being able to fall asleep until really late last night and then proceeded to waste time when I got up. I decided to go out for a run but ended up stopping at Best Buy on the way and finding a reasonably priced computer that would hold me over until I get a new laptop. I came home and set everything up and then basked in the internet's glow once again. I did some writing for a while. I like the new keyboard.

Later I went to Christie's where we watched Mike Birbiglia stand-up with Tracy and then talked about running marathons for a while before putting on Good Will Hunting. Always a great movie. Everyone was sleepy when it was over so we headed out.

No luck going to sleep remotely early. I stayed up watching Californication until I was finally tired enough to sleep.

Nov 23, 2010

I was up early and had breakfast with my grandmom at the Shop Rite buffet. I just had a bagel sandwich. I went to Rowan and wrote up my paper for Art History that was due at class in the morning. I finished with plenty of time to spare. It was just a first draft anyway. Class was pretty off-topic and slow-going once again.

I spent some time talking to Hottle about class and other things then went to see Keith to talk about my projects. I got a parfait for lunch and then returned with Alex to do our Portrait rundown.

In Web we did some sample exercises to reacquaint us with some of the things we learned but never really used. It was actually a really helpful class; even though we spent a lot of time talking and laughing, we were helping each other figure out the program.

I wanted some real food so I met Chuck at Moe's on the way home, where I got a burrito and finished the whole thing. We sat there after finishing our food for quite a while discussing things. Our Tuesday night ritual of Quizzo is over so we need to make up for it elsewhere.

I went to Shannon's later where we watched the new Glee and then last week's because her mom hadn't seen it. We finished the Magic Hat winter variety pack that I had and spent the rest of the night watching old Dexter episodes.

Even though I was really tired when I left her house I couldn't fall asleep when I got home.

Nov 22, 2010

I spent the morning putting together my third type problem to hand in and then enjoying use of the Rowan computers since mine don't work. I had a chance to edit some photos and update things before class started. I handed in and got back my problem very quickly, with a letter grade better than the previous two. That's something I suppose. The rest of the class we worked on our final project, a brochure.

I worked in the sculpture studio for a while, making more plaster casts and trying something out with this little guy. I soon retreated home because I was not obligated to stay.

The night consisted of dinner and then watching House and Lie to Me before going to Chuck's to watch How I Met Your Mother. Then I watched Californication before going to bed. Productive as always.

Nov 21, 2010

Ryan and I decided to go to Delaware instead of much farther away for a hike and play disc golf instead. We went to Lum's Pond, where the weather was really nice for playing.

Ryan played lefty and did really well. Much better than I could ever do with my left arm. I can barely putt that way.

We went over to White Clay Creek for a second game, where we came upon quite a few people playing. One large group of guys was there that didn't seem to belong at all. They were yelling and threatening to fight one another. It just didn't seem right. White Clay was good, though I didn't feel well for about half of the game. Strangely, I remember every hole there though I had only been once before.

We drove home as the sun went down and the full moon rose large over the landscape. We passed by a lot of place where I was tempted to stop and take shots. I want to go back to this school in Bridgeton soon and take some good shots. This was from the car while I was stopped at a light.

The rest of the night was uneventful, spent watching Discovery Channel shows and Dexter.
