Jul 9, 2008

I got up (kinda) early and met Katie to head up to a town near Allentown to go to a cave. We stopped in the city on our way.

Since the Bubble House wasn't open yet and the Jamba Juice was closed for the summer, I had to settle for a smoothie from Raindrop Cafe. It was ok. We did end up getting a bubble tea since they were open by the time we were leaving town and finally ready to head up the turnpike.

We got to Crystal Cave pretty easily. It was raining outside but dry in the cave. We began descending the stairs after watching a boring video about how caves are formed.

Our monotone tour guide, who was about sixteen and "not interested in history, so she'll spare us the boring details," made up names for all the formations, but did give some information on how they are created. Stalagmite.

There were some really cool rooms in the cave, I wish we had time to explore by ourselves and not have a tour to follow.

They called these prairie dog stalagmites.. for obvious reasons.

This was the biggest room in the cave, seen from an elevation on one end. It was really beautiful and amazing.

From the lookout area at the top, you could even see small stalactites forming from minerals in the dripping water.

It was really cold down there. The tour included one part where they turn the lights out so it's pretty much complete darkness.. unless you look behind you and see the dim light from the other part of the cave where another tour is going on. You could really hear the water drips when she asked everyone to be quiet though and that was awesome.

A drip on your nose is good luck, so a drip on the tongue should be even better, right?

This is us outside. The camera lens fogged up from the rapid temperature change when we got out of the cave.

I hit my head quite a few times on the low rocks so I figured I should pick up some headgear for the next time I go.

We went to Olive Garden on the way to another cave. It was fun for Katie to try to find the items without any meat or animal products.

I got home just in time to make it to practice. We went through our set a few times, played a new song and then Jeff showed up and we told him there was a raccoon loose in the basement. Then we practiced with him.

We played some poker after practice. I was heads up with Luke at the end of a game that lasted way too long. I lost.

I should have been in bed much earlier.
