Aug 24, 2010

We woke up at Woodpecker, our treehouse, refreshed and ready to enjoy another day of outdoor fun in Maryland.

We went to Sheetz, which is similar to Wawa but much better, for breakfast. They even have a seating area! We were the only ones using it, but it's a nice thing to have.

We went to the southern start of the Appalachian Trail in Maryland and got to hiking.

It was a mildly steep climb up for most of the beginning until we got to where it leveled off at an overlook.

The view was a nice opening to the Shenandoah River.

We took a break here for a while and enjoyed the view.

We got back on the trail and followed it for a seemingly long time. Seven miles can feel like a lot more when you're walking a trail.

We eventually came upon the trail access near our campground and walked down the road to it. The trail was nice and the weather was great for hiking. Tracy dropped us off at Jimmy's car back at the trailhead and we said goodbye before heading off toward home.

The drive home wasn't bad with traffic and I got back in time to go with Jeff and Chuck to Quizzo. We did quite well again this time but our usual competition was nowhere to be found so we came in first this time. Heyyy. Go us.

I came home after the quiz to do laundry and pack a few things for Maine. I like to wait until the last minute, ya know.
