May 27, 2008

I had a pretty easy, late-starting day at Memorial with a technology class. I just gave them their assignments and finished the second half of A Wolf at the Table by Augusten Burroughs.

After work, Jeff and Jess came to my house and we picked up Chuck and headed down the road to New York for Take Two. Jeff drove this time.

When we got to the bar, the bartender told us there was one ticket left. We were somewhat discouraged, but she told us to come back and check later in case there were any cancellations. So we went and got Jamba Juice because it's the best.

We went to a pita restaurant and got some veggie food before heading back over.

The bartender had no tickets for us, but we were told by someone having a drink that we should wait by the door until they collect the tickets and we might get in. So we stood in line, where it was extremely hot, for about forty five minutes. We saw Demetri Martin walk by and go in to do his soundcheck and all. Everyone with tickets went in and then the lady came back out and told us we could just pay her and go in to stand in the back. We were ecstatic!

Demetri came on and was hilarious. He told almost all new jokes. Only a few old ones peppered here or there. The new stuff was great.

Of course he played some music while he told jokes, as well as eating a cookie to make himself feel better each time a joke didn't work out. He took two intermissions where other comics came out to do a set, they were both pretty funny too.

We posed in front of Club Rififi after the show and headed off, extremely happy that we got in and jolly from all the great things we heard.

We promised our bartender Mike from last week that we'd stop in after this show, so we kept our word. We only had time for one beer, but after Mike realized who we were and we told him a bit about the show he poured us each a shot because after all.....

"It's Whiskey River!"

We barely made the last train, running through Penn Station while I played "The Final Countdown" on my phone. Once we got back down the highway, we stopped at Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast sandwiches and drinks to keep us awake for the rest of the way.

We made it home alive again, but extremely tired and much more satisfied this time.
