May 25, 2008

Ryan and I met up in the early afternoon and started driving north to Warren County, NJ to find Mount Tammany. It took a while to get there, but once we did we got out and headed for the trail.

The walk up was rocky and very steep. It was a climb at most parts.

This was our first lookout/resting point. The views only got better from here.

It was somewhat dangerous on some areas that were just filled with rocks.

It felt good once we got to the tops of the rock hills though.

We got to another lookout that we though was the end because someone congratulated us on making it up. There were falcons or eagles or some kind of birds flying below us, so we were pretty high.

This is us thinking we're heading back down.

After we realized we weren't done yet, it wasn't a long hike to the actual summit where other people were resting and enjoying their accomplishment.

We are officially at the summit, 1527 feet high.

The way down was rocky, but also had some nice views of the stream.

It was a nice change of pace from a constant vertical climb.

We still did some climbing though.

It was a beautiful area to just sit and enjoy the view.

And it wouldn't be a hike if Ryan and I didn't have to balance our way across a fallen tree.

I had to stop in the middle and look back to show him up. We finished the trail and headed back home slowly.

Once I got back, I went to Sam's to join in the bonfire. We made s'mores, ate leftovers and drank beer. Some of my favorite things. And I got to build a fire, also favorite.

We all hung out around the fire until about 3am. Me, Allie, Jordan, Jeff, Blake (Timmy) and Sam. We cleaned up and then hung around inside for a while talking before it was time to call it a night.

I've had an awesome few days, just keeps getting better.
