May 31, 2012

Well, I worked at Memorial in a History class during the day. Ryan and I went up to the Rock Gym for a couple hours until I'm sure it got a little more crowded and we were exhausted. When I came home I guess I worked on photo/video editing. That's the best I can do. This is the last time I'll apologize.

May 30, 2012

I worked at the Senior High again in the English class, and later I went to Kate's to have dinner and watch a movie. We all went to Quizzo later and got more food whilst we played.

Details are scarce around these parts.

May 29, 2012

I worked in an English class at the Senior High during the day and later went down to the Heislerville trail to have a short walk down to the end where there are a crazy amount of birds on an island across the water.

They were making ridiculous sounds the whole time we were there. As it goes, I have no recollection of who accompanied me that day. I only have this silhouette to give me a clue. And it's not much of a clue. It's been too long.

The rest of the night I presume I spent inside watching shows.

May 28, 2012

This is where I left off updating my blog for over a year because I got too far behind. Details in some of the following posts will be sketchy up to a point. I will try to remember based on my calendar and pictures. We will see how it goes.

This day must have been a lazy day as I didn't do anything besides going for a run with Ryan at night. I'm sure we ran around one of our neighborhoods. It lasted for a while so I'm sure we took a walk after.

Kate and I decided to go on a South Jersey wine tour for the afternoon and we started out at Heritage in Glassboro. We tried a few good wines there and then moved on to Wagonhouse down the road. They had some amazing wines. I like almost all of them. The Fallen Quaker was probably my favorite of the day though, with chocolate and coffee flavors. So good.

We went to four others somehow. Some were definitely better than others. Coda Rossa was great as we were the only ones there and the guy pouring for us was really friendly and he basically let us sample all of their wine. And they had a lot! Belleview also had great hosts that were very nice to let us stay and try wine even though we got there just before they were going to close. All in all a really fun time.

We stopped at Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner and then went to Christie's brother's house for a bonfire. We got a nice fire started using some of the neighbors' wood (shhh) and then had some beers sitting outside on a beautiful night. Eventually we got the iHome working so we had music too!

Tracy, Mike, and Tina showed up eventually as well and, after we sat around talking for an hour or so we finally got in the pool!

I love night swimming. Even though it was an above ground pool it was still fun. We didn't stay in for too long, but the water was really nice and we went to stand around the fire again for a bit after that.

Quite a fun day and nice getting to see people for a while. Gotta go to more wineries soon.

May 26, 2012

Kate and I went out for a game of disc golf since the weather was perfect. I made some good shots and came close to acing two holes. By "close" I mean that if I were a few feet in the right direction I'd have made it. It's mostly significant for 18 since it's about 300 feet and I overshot it.

I went home for a while and then Chuck picked me up and we got pizzas before heading over to Kate's for her birthday bonfire. We didn't really stand around the fire at all. We just drank some beers and walked around outside for a bit.

We decided to retreat to the inside and play Telestrations and continue drinking. The markers were all pretty much dead so we had a hard time playing a full round and called it quits after a few games.

We stayed a while more, talking and listening to music.

May 25, 2012

I didn't feel so well in the morning so I didn't work. After a while I felt better and met Ryan at the gym for leg workout. I decided that I needed a haircut after that and then it was about time for Omar to pick me up and head to Philly. We picked up his friend Chris and went to JD's for some food and beers. Meg met us there and we continued to hang and drink after they went to the show.

After a couple of Golden Monkeys we went next door to the Electric Factory just as Animals as Leaders were finishing their set and we had a short wait in the crowd getting excited until Thrice came out. They played a great set mixing songs from each of their albums. Everyone was into in the crowd.

They played a lot of older stuff as well as new stuff. I was really excited to hear "Daedalus" and "Broken Lungs" among all of the other greats songs. "The Earth Will Shake" is still one of the best live songs. They played an encore and then came back for a second encore to play "Anthology," which is a perfect closing song to say goodbye to a fantastic band.

We hung out in the cool air after the show talking about the set. We were all slightly disappointed that few songs were left off the set list, but overall we were just happy after such a great performance. They will definitely be missed along with so many other bands that don't play anymore.

Eventually we parted ways and headed home with the windows down. It was a beautiful night out and we had an amazing time.

May 24, 2012

I worked between two elementary schools during the day covering meetings. I didn't have any to cover at the first one and then the second one used me for two classes. And then I left. Hm. Kate and I went to AC in the evening to Vagabond for their Dogfish Head tap takeover.

They had thirteen beers on tap, including the World Wide Stout and 120 Minute IPA. The latter is just fantastic. They would only give us small glasses of it. The Red and White was interesting, with a sweet cherry flavor. The Black and Blue was probably my other favorite, having a slight taste of a sour ale with fruity notes.

We had some good food and free fries while we hung out and talked to some of the reps from Dogfish and the people that work at Vagabond. Our table had a nice view of the sunset as well. It was nice to try some new beers from them.

May 23, 2012

I worked for Erika's band class today, watching part of a Disney movie and watching a bunch of National Treasure during the last class. Still a great movie. After work I got right to work on the video for Philadelphia Sculptors and didn't come up for air until I was done my first edit and sent it off. Then Kate came over for some beers before we went to Quizzo.

The quiz was fun. We did okay and we were battling for first most of the game but fell behind toward the end and ended up tied for second. Chuck took care of that by answering a Pokemon question and getting us our gift certificate. Then Spencer offered to buy our meals. So nice. Thanks!

May 22, 2012

I had a pretty uneventful day at Rieck Ave covering meetings. It's nice working with younger kids once in a while to remember they weren't always jerks. Later Kate and I went to East Point so I could shoot some sunset photos.

After being molested my mosquitoes for a while and checking out the wildlife preserve we headed back home for the night.

May 21, 2012

I spent the day at Lakeside in the same Math class I covered last week. It was a strange schedule, but I got done early and came home to work on photos for most of the evening between watching episodes of Breaking Bad. Then I watched the House series finale and got to bed early.

May 20, 2012

I went to the gym with Ryan in the morning to do pull/back exercises and then met Sarah and Aiden at Fat Jack's for lunch. We had a good time and some good food.

I worked on video editing for a while and then later Dana came down to play a round of disc golf. We played the front twelve as the sun was going down and I didn't feel like trying for the back half of the course.

We went to the Oar House for a couple drinks after our game. I tried a few new things, including the 21st Amendment Watermelon which is really good and light. I also had the Harpoon Rye IPA and that was great.

I came home and watched some Mad Men and felt really wired so I went for a long run around town.

May 19, 2012

After a morning of lamenting my place in life and wanting to be anywhere else I finally decided to get outside since it was so nice. I started driving down to Belleplain for a run/walk/anything to be outside. About halfway there my car just shut off. That's never good. I knew I had to baby it, as Chopper said, but I didn't think I couldn't drive it at all. After some figuring, I got a tow truck there and had it taken back to the shop.

Kate and I went to Kawa for dinner where we ran into Chuck and Spencer. I had sushi for the first time in quite a while and Chuck and I kept making eye contact about the strange techno music being played in the restaurant.

We hung out at home for the night and had some drinks. Southern Tier Double Milk Stout is very good. It was a good night.

May 18, 2012

I worked at the senior high in a resource room for the day. The classes weren't bad, but I just wasn't feeling like being there. After work I met Ryan for some pushups and weights at the gym then went to Chili's with my grandmom for dinner. Chicken tacos are tasty.

Later, Dana and I went to East Point, where we were promptly attacked by tons of mosquitoes. The sunset was really nice though and the horseshoe crabs were all over the beach! Mating season. Gotta come back soon for real photos.

We took a walk down the path in Heislerville and listened to birds on the island making some extremely unsettling sounds. It was hilarious and frightening at the same time. We hung out for a while more and then I called it a night.

May 17, 2012

Not being able to sleep most of the night, I didn't take a job and I slept late. When I got up it was very nice out so Ryan and I went to play a few games of tennis at the college. We went to Moe's for lunch and then headed up to the rock gym for a couple hours of climbing. I tackled a couple that I couldn't do before so that was nice.

I spent much of the night editing photos from the wedding and some older ones that I'm trying to get through.

May 16, 2012

I had a good day working at Lakeside, which I don't get to say very often. The kids were great and I had no issues at all. I came home after work and had something to eat and then had a nap before I got up to go for a run at Silver Run. The weather was amazing and the sky was lighting up nicely as I made my laps around all of the loops.

My car scared me a bit on the way back, seeming like it was going to stall, but I made it home. I had Chuck pick me up before the quiz. Spencer and Matt joined us and we had some fierce competition. Our waitress, Stephanie helped us out a bit a few times. She's always entertaining. We ended up winning by a few points! We're back!

Chuck followed me to Chopper's so I could drop my car off and hope that he can work on it tomorrow. It's always something. I came home to watch Mad Men and look for a job.

May 15, 2012

Another day at Lakeside and I had a strange schedule where most of the morning I covered other random classes and ACI. It was pretty good, but then I got to my regular English classes where I had to be very stern with the students until I gave up and let them talk because I was tired of yelling. I just put on movies. At least I got to leave early and met Ryan at the gym for leg workout. I met Dana at Saigon for dinner. I had curry, which was only mildly disappointing. I usually stick with the vermicelli.

We came back to the house to look through some photos and then had some drinks and watched I Love You, Man and some of Mrs. Doubtfire. I still remember all the lines to that movie. It's so good.

After she left Ryan came over and we went for a run around the neighborhood. It was still pretty humid out, but it was a really nice night for a run.

May 14, 2012

I worked at Lakeside covering resource rooms while most of the eighth grade was on a trip to New York. I had one or two kids per class and we watched October Sky during one of those classes. Good movie. After an easy day I met Ryan at the gym for an arm/back workout. I went through some photos when I got home but didn't get much done. Chuck came over and we watched the season finale of How I Met Your Mother and talked for a while before he left and I watched House and then got to bed.
