We woke up uncomfortable and cold at the rest stop in the middle of Kansas and got right back on the road after brushing our teeth.
We felt like getting actual food today so we stopped at a roadside IHOP. It was insanely windy. We got some good food and we charged our electronics and then headed back out.
This is pretty much what Kansas looks like. It's windy, barren, and there are tumbleweeds all over.
Sometime in the late morning we arrived in Colorado.
We started being able to to see mountains in the distance which was a nice change from the flat landscape of the previous state.
We passed through Denver and were officially in the Rocky Mountains.
The car climbed to almost 12,000 feet at Loveland Pass.
The view was amazing and it was 7 degrees out!
I could feel the cold because I was not dressed for this kind of weather. I had to keep taking pictures though.
This is the precarious road we drove up and down, covered in snow.
There were scenic overlooks everywhere with great views of the mountains and lakes.
We got to witness an amazing sunset on our way down the mountain. I got some great pictures that I'll put up on my photo blog soon.
We covered a lot of ground and got farther than we planned, stopping in Grand Junction instead of Denver.
We found a hotel for a not so reasonable price, but at least it was warm. No internet or shampoo though. Don't stay at Motel 6 ever.
