Apr 11, 2008

I was up early on a Friday to meet Kim and Alex at Rowan for our "field trip." We went to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art on Broad Street in Philly.

We were the only three that came to the trip, but we found our teacher and started browsing the modern art section.

We each had to do several drawings of designs that we liked to put in our final piece.

After a short time at the museum, we headed off to South Street. I finally ate at Jon's Bar and Grill after having walked by it hundreds of times before. It was pretty good food and we got to eat outside on a perfect day.

After lunch and a little shopping, I took them on a tour since they don't get to the city very often. We went to see some nice views of center city and City Hall, then walked through Old Town to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall and finished up walking down the waterfront at Penn's Landing.

I took our picture, then a guy offered me his camera as collateral while he took our picture for us. Which is better?

We got back to the car with three minutes to spare! I did pretty good at giving them a tour of the big city highlights while parked in a 2-hour limit space.

Next, we went in search of the rumored Jamba Juice in University City. It was a myth, however, and we had to settle for a random smoothie place.

It was a good trip, but exhausting. I had no trouble getting to sleep.
