Nov 25, 2009

I subbed for my old chemistry teacher, Mr. Bump, in the morning. It was a half day since it's the day before Thanksgiving break. It was a pretty quick and easy day of work. I'm kind of surprised it went so quickly since I had no laptop to occupy me.

I met Ryan at the gym after work and we did some of our challenges; sit ups, push ups, shuttle run, etc. I had him show me the medicine ball exercises he learned so I could do them after he left. After that I did some running on the treadmill and called it a day. It felt like I hadn't been to the gym in a while so it was nice.

I went home for a nap since I didn't sleep much and then later I picked up Katie to possibly go to a bar. We stopped at one but it was so crowded and such bad music was coming from it that I decided I didn't even want to try. We ended up going to the bakery for treats. Why do all of my posts involving the gym have some kind of pastry immediately following? That might explain some things.

We ate our sweets and went back to her house where her family was getting stuff ready for Thanksgiving. I was just in the way so I came home and finished last night's game of Scrabble with Joanna online and watched some shows before bed.

Nov 3, 2009

Day two as a history teacher was pretty quiet as I had to give all the classes a test. They really didn't give me any trouble about it, which seemed strange. I got some of my own work done while they did their tests.

After work, I met Ryan for a few games of tennis. We took advantage of having some extra time but our games lasted a while anyway.

Since we didn't have time restrictions, we went to the course for a game. It was the first time in a while that we've been over there. Ryan scored his best game of -2 with some really awesome shots.

After going home to get ready I picked up Joanna and we went to Olive Garden to use some of our gift cards for dinner. We had some really great Portabella raviolis and for dessert we had to go with pumpkin cheesecake. So good.

We went down and met Chuck and Diebra for Quizzo. It seemed like we were doing pretty well but we ended up in third even after doubling our points on a perfect round. A free appetizer was disappointing after all the stuff we won at Rowan trivia.

After stopping at Rowan for a short time and checking out the gallery of the Dusk til Dawn art and hanging out with Josh and Alex in the comp lab, we went to Philly to get pretzels. It's been a while. Joanna had never had them so she got to experience the wonder of soft, hot pretzels fresh from the conveyor belt for the first time.

After checking out a view from center city we headed back over the bridge and stopped at Camden to see the city from one of my other favorite spots at the waterfront. We stood out there for a while but it was pretty cold so we got back in the car.

I got home pretty late so I had to get to sleep right away since I had work in the morning. I tried to anyway, even though it didn't work out that way.

Oct 10, 2009

I woke up early out of habit I suppose and got started with a run at the course. It seemed quite easy, possibly because of the run/exercise circuit we did yesterday. I went to the gym after to do some upper body things but I also added some of the leg exercises that I worked on with Ryan last week.

After a shower, I met my mom at Saigon for lunch. They have such good food there. I got the vegetable spring roll vermicelli. So great. The next few hours were spent in various stores around the area including Dick's, Ross, Burlington Coat Factory, Marshalls and Gap. I got stuff. New hiking boots, sneakers, ski coat and some shirts.

After I updated my wardrobe, I decided to update my hair. Or something. This is the last picture before a lot of my hair got chopped off.

Katie did the chopping. I trust her for some reason to decide how my hair should look. I guess it's worked out.. depending on who you ask.

We went up to Philly with the intention of going to Haunted Poe but they were sold out. We ended up at Whole Foods looking at desserts. Chuck and I got pumpkin mousse parfaits while Katie got a Harvest Berry Pie.. even though she didn't want it. We ate (some of) our parfaits and left the parking area, thus ending our trip to Philly for the night.

Katie had been wanting something very specific for a while so I drove to the bakery in Bridgeton instead of going home and got a few of them. It's a canoli! They're really good... and even vegans agree that it's worth it to cheat sometimes...

That was our exciting night out. Why can't we ever find things to do on weekend nights in the city? I guess because we don't go to clubs and get drunk. Oh well.
