Feb 28, 2017

I worked at Memorial as a gym teacher for the day. Besides having off first block it wasn't bad. The weather was great so we took the kids to the track to run for a little while, but then I had to go inside to the weight room. It smells bad and the kids mess around a lot. Luckily I don't care. My last class I had stay outside longer just because I wanted to be out.

Becca and I went to play a round of disc golf after work to enjoy the weather. Someone had uprooted and dragged the second basket to a new location. It was placed in the ground properly, but I thought it was weird whoever did it wouldn't fill in the other hole. Scott informed me that someone had ripped it out and then the board decided to relocate. I don't care for the change. I went home with the intention of napping, but I ended up just lying in bed on the computer and decided to just go to bed early instead of napping so late.

Feb 24, 2017

When I started my day at Silver Run my meeting schedule left much to be desired as far as free time on such a beautiful day. As it turned out the first two meetings I wasn't needed so I had two hours off right off the bat! I went to Becca's and we immediately headed to the park to play disc golf. I thought we could play the long tees for a change. Well, I was once again reminded why we don't. They're not much fun and some aren't much different. And Becca ended up throwing her disc into the thick brush on hole 10. We used my hoodie as armor and she got her disc back.

I had to go back to work for one meeting, but then I had a long lunch so I met Becca again for Wildflower lunch at Corson Park. It was so nice out. I want to have more meals outdoors.

After going back for a very short time I was done early so Becca, Chuck, and I went to Glasstown. I was excited to try the Super C, their new IPA with Centennial, Citra, and Chinook? hops. It was very citrusy and delicious and maybe my new favorite IPA there.

We had a great time and ended up staying for a long time. Adrian even cruised through! Chuck pretended to be grumpy. It was a proper evening at the bar.

Feb 23, 2017

I worked at Memorial for a Social Studies class in the morning. At first I thought it would be a long day with fourth block off, but it ended up being great to get done work early and be able to go out to play disc gold with Ryan and Becca. It was a beautiful day to be outside.

Alycia and I took advantage of the weather as well, albeit a little later than we planned since she got stuck at work and in traffic. We had a nice bike ride through her area as the sun was going down. It started getting a little dark so we turned around.

We were still a way from her house when I felt my tire go flat. I didn't have a spare tube so she had to ride home and get her car to pick me up. I walked a long way before she got there to keep occupied and people really don't yield to pedestrians on a road with no shoulder. We went to get dinner at a Chinese place after deciding not to meet Chuck and Alex in Mount Holly. It was just too far and we were already late. After we ate we went to Target and killed some time before going to Telford Inn for trivia with her friends. The upside of this was that Becca could join us. It was a bit awkward with the seating and already established team, but we had fun on our end playing together.

Feb 10, 2017

After another late night I woke up and decided to cancel my job in Vineland and go back to sleep. I woke up a couple of hours later and decided to pick up the art class at Wood School since it was already an hour into it. I didn't have to be there until 10 and I ended up only having 4 classes with a nice long lunch break. As Wood School goes it was a good job. After work I met Becca at the park for a run and some disc golf. I only did two miles and we played the first 10 holes before she had to go, but it was nice to be outside still.

After her cases we spent the night mostly looking some things up and playing Mario Kart Wii until we were tired.

Feb 7, 2017

I started the day with single meetings at Bacon and Wood School followed by a long break for lunch. The afternoon was longer meetings at Holly Heights that seemed even longer. It was extremely nice outside so the kids went out to play and I sat there watching them.

Ryan and I went to the park for a round of disc golf and a walk after work. It was nice to be out and comfortable in shorts and t-shirts. I came home and had an argument with Joyce turning into a bad night. I went to Becca's later which made things much better. Ryan from Flo-Foto texted me about working this summer so her and I discussed going to SLC and decided we would do it! So it's official: moving to Utah in a couple months!

Feb 1, 2017

I woke up early after a good night of sleep and finished the last two episodes of Insecure before heading to work at Silver Run. The first meeting I covered a gym class for about a half hour watching the kids play volleyball. After that I had a two hour break so I went to Becca's, ate lunch, and chilled out for a while. When I went back I covered a Spanish class for 40 minutes watching Dora the Explorer. After that I was done for the day. No complaints this time.

I did some editing before heading to Parvin to meet Becca on her way home for a run. I felt slow and weak but my pace was 8:25 for 3 miles so it wasn't bad. It's funny how often I feel that way and the result is the opposite. But not running for a week and eating poorly surely had something to do with it. Since it was still a little earlier than usual we decided to go play disc golf before it got dark. We had a game of really good shots and terrible shots. We picked up takeout from Viet Bistro in the mall and watched an episode of Flaked and then finally Deadpool. The food was great-- I missed the spring roll vermicelli-- and the movie was good but not as amazing as it was made out to be. After all that we spent a little too long arguing with Comcast people on the phone about Becca's bill.

Jan 14, 2017

I got up early and got a lot of little things done that I've been putting off. Becca wanted to go for a run so we met at Parvin. I ran the Black Oak trail for 4 miles. It felt good even though the temperature had dropped back to the normal cold. We walked a little after running separately then took off.

I felt like staying outside a little longer so I went to the park and ran 10 baskets, alternating 10 push-ups and 20 V sit-ups after each one. I played a decent game for being in a hurry.

I spent the afternoon packing, doing laundry, and taking it easy. Becca and I headed up to Philly early to meet up with Andrew to FINALLY get my MacBook Pro. We met at a Qdoba near Temple and made the exchange. I'm excited to have it, but it's frustrating to have a new thing and not be able to use it right away. We went to Blackbird and got delicious pizza and a sandwich then stopped at La Colombe for a cold brew.

We got to Union Transfer just as Hidden in Plain View was finishing up, but they sounded really good. The Early November played a full set of songs from The Mother, The Mechanic, The Path. It was a good mix of songs that I knew and some I didn't. The second set was worth the wait. It was full of all the songs I would want to hear including Fluxy! They ended on Every Night's Another Story which was an incredible end to a really fun and special night.

After the show we started driving North toward Watkins Glen. We drove about three hours, but it didn't feel like it because we chatted the whole time. We stopped at a rest area just over the New York border where we set up camp in the back of the car. It was cold and my sleeping pad sprung a leak so it wasn't very comfortable either, but I got to sleep.

Dec 30, 2016

We slept in and got up to make a tofu scramble eventually. It was really tasty, but the sweet potatoes are always the best part.

We sat around being lazy for a while, which was quite nice. The cats joined in.

We decided we should go for a run so we went to South Vineland Park to do a couple of laps. I did a little over two miles but it felt nice to be outside. We tried playing disc golf, but after being sweaty we both felt cold and not really in the mood for it.

Later Omarey met me at my house and we drove up to Starland for Thursday night two. We had a great chat on the way up about a lot of things in life and travel and inspiration. It's great to be able to have deep conversations with friends I don't see too often. Thursday was amazing just as last night, but I prefer the other setlist. Tonight's was themed towards more hopeful songs and they did a great job with the theme. The crowd was a little more crazy too so that played a part. Along with everyone in the crowd being excited it was apparent that Geoff was having the time of his life. It's great to see the band back together like no time has passed. Definitely worth the long wait.

Dec 8, 2016

We got up at 4:18am on the second alarm to get ready and go to the airport. Becca and I left Millville after a quick visit to Wawa for a hash brown, coffee, and gas. When we got to her friend Dan's house he was seemingly still sleeping and definitely not packed so we sat and waited for 15 minutes while he did that. Annoying but no big deal in the end as we made it to the airport an hour before their flight. They were off to Arizona, and I headed back to Millville to work.

I went in for my first Insight mystery job at Memorial which turned out to be Mr. Sloan's English class. It was mostly fine if a little boring. I spent one class reading October Sky to the students and the next ones browsing online and unsubscribing from mailing lists that I am consistently amazed that I end up on. I had off fourth block so after waiting and watching Westworld for a bit I was able to leave a little early.

It was pretty chilly and gray, but I went to South Vineland Park for a fast round of disc golf by myself. I kept myself entertained by taking a Snapchat video of each basket putting in a different way. I sent them all to Becca, but I kind of wish I saved them to watch the compilation together. I had a decent round, and it definitely went quick.

I had to be fast because I had an eye exam to get my new contacts prescription and also to check my new glasses that just didn't feel right. The doctor didn't seem to find anything wrong with the new prescription, but I went to Wal*Mart where I got them and the women who work there were very helpful and offered to change my prescription back to what it was before. Hopefully that's the last time I'll have to deal with these particular glasses. I also gave out a couple of business cards to those ladies and hopefully they'll be calling me about holiday photos.

I tried to take a short nap with mild success, and then I headed to Philly. I picked up a ticket at Union Transfer for Becca then shot over to the Foundry for Copeland. I got there as they were playing (I assume) their first song, "Chin Up." A little bummed I missed that one, but the rest of the set was so good. They played a ton of songs, making little best-of sets of each album. It flowed really well and it was nice and chill. I really enjoyed the whole vibe of the show. Before playing some older songs Aaron said, "If you're looking at your phone I have to assume you're logging into your LiveJournal.. or Xanga." Great reference. I really should be sleeping now.

Apr 3, 2014

After covering meetings at Lakeside for the day, I was more than ready to get outside. I went over to the park and practiced putting a little before dropping my discs and going for a walk around the longest path to kill time before Ryan got there to play a round. I went home for a while before heading up to Philly for the show.

I got to the Troc shortly before Four Year Strong hit the stage. They had some technical problems getting started as they always seem to in Philly, but once it was resolved they kicked off a great set playing mostly older songs. Their set was fast and full of energy, which is what it was lacking last time I saw them. I was happy to see them back at what they do best, and the crowd was into it too.

Speaking of the crowd, this was the tamest crowd I've seen at a Bayside show as long as I can remember. Their set was fantastic, with four songs from the new album and all of them songs I wanted to hear. I'm sure it gets harder to decide which newer vs. older songs to play as their list of songs grows longer, but I really love seeing them play the new stuff. It's just so good.

Apr 1, 2014

I had meeting at Landis School today, and it turned out to be a very open schedule. I got there at 8:30 and didn't have any meetings until 11:30. I decided to use this time to my advantage and went out for breakfast and then to get a haircut. The woman who cut my hair was very awkward and told me she only had certain razor guards for her clippers so I couldn't get the length I asked for. I suggested she ask to use the other stylist's and, after exhaling, she did it.

After that fun I took some photos of the Vineland Electric factory and then returned to cover meetings for the rest of the day. I ended up getting out a little early as well. I went to the park where I ended up playing 9 holes with a guy that I've seen there before. He's a regular apparently. We had a good game, and then Ryan showed up for our run. Time to start some training for the Tough Mudder as it's coming up really soon.

Brenda suggested getting Moe's so we went there and ate our bowls before heading up to the rock gym. We met Meg and her friend there and had a good time climbing, switching off partners. I didn't climb quite as well as last week, but I did manage to do the yellow that has been tormenting me for weeks! It seemed like we tired out a little earlier this time, so we called it a night early.

Mar 24, 2014

I went into Vineland Memorial to cover meetings today, but I ended up getting switched to cover a Special Ed class for the whole day. It wasn't so bad, but I just wasn't expecting it. After work I went to the park and ran the baskets, switching between push-ups, V crunches, and jumping jacks (with one set of pull ups thrown in at hole 10) at the end of each basket. I played a pretty good game considering I was running. I dropped my discs at the car and took a lap around the lake for good measure after I finished the course.

Mar 20, 2014

I worked at Vineland Memorial as a floating sub today, where I ended up covering for the gym teacher who only needed the second half of the day covered. So I had the full first half of the day off, hanging in the break room watching Sherlock, and then I went to the gym to watch the kids run in circles for a half hour at a time. It was so nice outside I was wishing I could be out there.

Ryan suggested the gym later, but I insisted on outdoor activities! So we brought the kettle bell over to the park and did hill runs, squats, swings, and push ups as circuits. It was fun and certainly exhausting, and we had some spectators that were walking around the path while we did it. Once we took the kettle bell back we took a walk around the lake as well. The rest of the night was spent taking it easy at home.

Mar 14, 2014

I worked a good day at Child Study Team in Vineland and then made some calls after. Ryan met me at the park for a round with Anya a little bit later.

It was nice for a little while in the sun, but it got pretty chilly. Ryan was done playing a few holes in. I played through the front 9, but I figured it would be better to just go for a walk instead so I put the discs in the car and we circled the pond. I went home and enjoyed a quiet night watching Legit.

Feb 23, 2014

Ah, a nice day. I went to the course with Brenda for a round of disc golf finally. It was so nice to be playing again. She was doing really well for only being her second time. After playing that game Kate wanted to play so I came back for another round. It didn't feel old even though I had just played. Nice days are great. I went to Parvin for a run after the second round, but there were more cars there than I have ever seen before so I knew that wouldn't be a fun trail to navigate. Later I went to Kate's and started watching True Detective. We ended up watching three episodes. It's so damn good. I had a 7 Hop IPA by Rogue that was soooo good. Good night.

Jan 20, 2014

I took Brenda to the course so she could try disc golf for the first time. On the plus side, she already can actually throw a disc so that's one giant obstacle that won't be a problem. She did really well for her first time. We practiced putting for a while and we made it through the whole course with no real issues.

We went up to PB's for food and I got a Brawler and then we each had an Angry Orchard cider. Our waitress was pretty terrible, but we had a good time. Later I went to the gym with Ryan where we decided against doing our push up day after we both felt a little weak in the shoulders. We just did other arm exercises and then left without exchanging EZ Passes, which is why we suggested going in the first place.

Dec 19, 2013

This was my schedule for the day. That's right. Two classes with a three hour break in between. I took full advantage of this long break by going home, choosing and editing photos for Christmas present, buying new blank DVDs, buying frames at Michael's, and dropping off my photos to be printed. Then I came home and had lunch with my remaining hour. Quite a productive work day.

Right after work I met Ryan at the park for some outdoor workout since it was quite nice. We did hand stands in the grass, which was extremely cold, then we tried climbing up onto the bathroom building and over the wall. We also discovered our arms are not the same length, but then discovered the wall where we were measuring them was at an angle so when we switched positions it became clear that it wasn't the case at all. We did five sets of hill sprints with jumping jacks at the bottom and push ups at the top. That was a nice and exhausting exercise.

I had to go back to T&F to resolve a problem (that they could have resolved themselves) but it was alright because I ended up getting my prints done right then. I headed up to Rowan to meet Anjali in the book store and get a latte drink from Starbucks before heading out to the ice. The skates felt like toys, but they worked, and we skated around in circles for a while. The rink is really small so you can't get much speed going before running into someone who is even worse at skating.

It was fun, but I'd rather go to a bigger rink. We walked around the campus a little bit, and I ended up talking to Jan for a while at Westby and getting a copy of the recent Gallery publication. It was nice seeing her again. I came home and had some food and stayed up too late again watching Burn Notice. I want to finish the series now, but after enjoying something a lot I don't want it to end in a way. And enough talk about TV.

Dec 4, 2013

It was nice sleeping in a bit today, but I took a Child Study Team job at Vineland Memorial School for the afternoon. I went in to find out that the meetings took place during teachers' prep times so I was most likely not needed. I spent the afternoon watching the new Sons of Anarchy and Prime Suspect and reading a bit.

After work I went over to the park and felt like playing disc golf, but no one could join me. I also wanted to run, but thought I'd be bored with circling the lake. Instead I ran the baskets with two discs, alternating between push ups, sit ups, and squats at each tee. It was a good and fast workout, and I got to enjoy playing a round by myself.

At home I had some dinner, went through some videos I need to start editing, and had a nap before I met Chuck at Wal*Mart to get some toys for the Toys For Tots drive at Quizzo. We got some Nerf-type guns and Matchbox cars.

We got extra points for donating toys, but that did not help us at all. We fell behind pretty quickly, despite getting a lot right. I somehow knew that the Le Mans race took place over 24 hours. Not sure why that information is readily available in my brain. In any case we had a good time even without a good game. Now I must figure out what to take with me to hike in possible rain tomorrow.
