There was PARCC testing at Memorial today so the schedules were different. First block ended up last 2.5 hours and cutting into my only block off so I ended up with a half hour break to run home and grab lunch quickly. I was in an art class and they had individual work so I was bored sitting at the desk all day. I finished reading 40 Days of Dating pretty early on and then proceeded to browse Reddit and other random websites all day. This is when it would be great to have a computer I could edit on.

I came home for a while after work and Becca left work early so she convinced me to go to Parvin with her and run. I wasn't feeling totally great, but I thought a run would help. I felt sluggish, but I ended up doing an average/slightly faster pace than usual over 3 miles. I did feel better after the run and the weather was pretty nice for it. The cold breeze was coming in over the water when we finished.

We did our day 4 of yoga a little later on and then went to Target for a failed jeans-shopping mission. Undeterred, we went on to The Dolphin for Emo Night, where we felt like were the only people there for the first half hour. Eventually people started coming out onto the dance floor.

Things picked up quickly after "My Friends Over You" came on. There were groups of people dancing for the rest of the night and the set got much better after that point too. It was a lot of fun dancing and singing and watching the walls change color together. After the awkward ending of that horrible Dashboard/Brand New mashup song and Weezer we jumped in the car and I stopped for piping hot fresh pretzels on the way home. It's been way too long since I've gone to the pretzel factory. Something comforting about knowing that place is still there.

I worked between the high school and junior high in a Latin class. It was the best substituting experience I've ever had. The classes were good and did all of their work and they were even cool kids and very entertaining. I want to sub this class all the time.

I met Alex at Westby and we had our first meeting with Keith for our independent study for portfolio review. It was mostly focused on her but I gave him some of my ideas.

I met Heather and walked over to the caf for dinner. I haven't been in there for the buffet in a while. I probably ate too much. Kat and others joined us as well and we spent much more time there than we expected.

We went in very late to the first GSA meeting of the semester. We talked about our upcoming events, mostly the wedding in the Student Center. That should be fun. Coming soon!

I headed over to the High Street Gallery to see Eric's performance piece. He was dressed in a robe and mask and was creating a sculpture out of materials coated in deep red. It was very interesting and entertaining. Not sure what the concept was though; I haven't gotten to ask him yet.

I made my way to PJ's for the quiz. We had some help on the sports round this time from Jeff's friend and Blake came to discuss the podcast possibilities. We did pretty poorly it seemed but we ended up in fifth place, about one hundred points out of first. Not too bad.

I headed back and picked up Heather to go up to Philly to get a whole lot of pretzels for the Gallery sale. I've never gotten this many before, but it didn't phase them at the factory, they just boxed them up and handed them over!

We got sixty... so who's gonna notice if two are missing? They were delicious. It's been too long. And Heather had never had them. It's the real deal.

After bagging up the pretzels to keep them fresh, I headed back home to get to sleep so I could get up early to sell those pretzels.

Jamie picked me and Chuck up and we went to Philly to get out of the South Jersey rain and got lunch at the Loving Hut. I had to get the chow mein again but Jamie went with the sandwich and it looks much better for real than it does in the picture. She confirmed that it was tasty. We walked down South Street after eating and stopped by the smoothie shop to hear the woman describe how they sweeten thing with agave (pronounced "uh-gayv"...)

When we got back the rain had stopped so I went out to shoot some rain drops on the trees. I think the drops look really cool in a macro shot and the pine tree give the drops plenty of places to hang.

Later, Renea wanted to get sushi so we went to Peking Tokyo and I got an eggplant roll. It's been a long while since I've been there and that's my favorite roll. After eating we took a walk down high street and then by the riverwalk. It was a really nice night to walk around. We came back to the house to play XBox but Jimmy had taken it so we just had some beers and talked while playing with Sketch.

As I was getting ready to go to bed, Joanna texted saying she was in the area and wanted to go get pretzels in Philly. Eventually we ended up going and got there as he was taking a fresh batch off the belt. They are perfection when they are hot. The pretzel guy was in a particularly good mood as well and I had a good conversation with him.

Once I got home full of pretzels I was ready to sleep after finishing an episode of The Daily Show.

Jul 13, 2010

The early part of the day was mostly rainy and gray, keeping me from doing anything outside. I ran a few errands that I've been putting off for a while and then went to the gym for a while in the afternoon.

My grandmom invited me over for dinner. We had raviolis that Aiden enjoyed playing with once he was done eating.

We went to Quizzo at night. My sister came for about two rounds but left somewhat early. Between the four of that were left, we ended up getting second place. We came back from an early deficit, even though the last question about Forbes' list of powerful musicians was confusing to say the least. (Miley Cyrus is on it but neither U2 nor Bono are..)

We felt like doing something else after the quiz but there really isn't anything to do in Millville at night so Jeff and Jimmy got in my car and we went to Philly. We got to the pretzel factory just as they opened and we picked some fresh, hot pretzels right off the belt. If only I had peanut butter.

We were satisfied with our pretzel run and headed home, where I ate my last pretzel before getting to sleep.

After doing some shopping I went up to Rowan to help Katie with the finishing touches for her gallery installation. She had to make a few adjustments to her website and I helped with the descriptions of her groupings of pieces. This is one she did last semester and added to this year, which I think came out great.

I had Modern Art, where we spent much of the time talking about the governor and the education policies, and then Graphic Design, where I handed in my edited poster design. There were a lot of really good ones for this assignment.

We took a break to go to the opening, where I spent a lot of time shooting and trying to get to the food. Katie is standing next to her website which gives information on animal cruelty and alternatives to meat.

The opening was a success; there were a lot of people there for most of the night. The work was all really nicely done and there was good food. I had to go back to class at some point though, but I took some monkey bread with me!

After the opening and class were over, Katie, Olga, their cousins and myself went to Philly. We didn't know where to go but we stopped at The Continental for food.

It's a tapas style restaurant so everyone shared big plates. Katie and I just got wasabi mashed potatoes, which were delicious again.

After eating, we went to west Philly to attempt to find a bar. We found it, but we couldn't get in because of the minors in the group so we ran back to the car in the rain. We spent most of our time driving around.

We decided to get pretzels, but first, we went to The Friendly Lounge, which is a really small bar across from the pretzel factory, where Olga got her first legal drink... even though they didn't check her ID (which she forgot to bring anyway..) They didn't check anyone's IDs, which is the only reason they are all holding drinks.

The bar was pretty bad, I didn't get anything at all but after they finished we went to get our pretzels and ate them on the ride home. We really just did a lot of driving around and eating. Good times.

We went out on this beautiful morning to Sedgley in Philly to play a round of disc golf. We were one short so we couldn't play teams but we were all ready to stand for ourselves.

It was quite warm but the game went by pretty quickly. I had a few nice shots and some that were so close to going in but just missed. We played the first eighteen holes and were ready for lunch after that.

Sarcone's was the obvious choice for lunch. The veggie hoagie is delicious. And it is all about the bread. The red hots are hot too, they're not kidding around.

We headed back home and I came back to Rowan to study for a little while longer right up to the test. I felt a little nervous but when I took the test I knew all of the identifications and I was happy with the amount of information I wrote. I think it will be another A.

We went over our revised posters and our new poster designs/presentations and the class went by pretty quickly. At around ten I went up to the art museum steps to join a large group of bikers that slowly took over the front of the steps.

At precisely midnight there was a mass exodus of bikers that took off into the road with no regard for traffic. Strength in numbers.

We rode down the Parkway and on to Broad Street through the amazingly beautiful night weather. A few guys had beers and everyone was having a good time.

Ten or fifteen minutes later we arrived at the pretzel factory. Everyone rolled in at their own pace but there were bikes lined up all over as everyone joined the long line to get a pretzel.

The payoff was great. Warm and tasty. I hung out with everyone for a while, talking to the group of people I got to know before we left the museum.

After a nice ride back to my car, I left to write my Art History paper that was due the next morning. Good thing I write quickly.

I met up with Ryan early in the afternoon for some gym action. We did some circuits of different exercises. It was pretty exhausting, I can always count on that when I go with him.

I went home for a while and started cleaning up and then went to Moe's a little later with Ryan to get a quesadilla. It's been a while, Moe.

I was doing really well at staying focused while cleaning so I kept it up when I got back. I cleaned out my entire one large closet and a lot of my other stuff I just need to box up so it was very successful. I found a lot of old pictures and funny things like this giant Snapple bottle. One of many that we used to have.

Jackie picked me up later and we went to Philly in the rain. The reflections on the road looked really nice but the museum area was closed off so we had to find somewhere else to perch for a while.

We stopped near South Street and got out to walk around for a very short time until we were tired of getting rained on.

We went to the pretzel factory just as it opened and got some warm, delicious pretzels hot off the press. We sat in the car and ate our pretzels with peanut butter. So good. We're peanut buddies!

We had a good time on the ride home, talking about new words we should submit to Merriam-Webster and laughing. Good times.

Nov 3, 2009

Day two as a history teacher was pretty quiet as I had to give all the classes a test. They really didn't give me any trouble about it, which seemed strange. I got some of my own work done while they did their tests.

After work, I met Ryan for a few games of tennis. We took advantage of having some extra time but our games lasted a while anyway.

Since we didn't have time restrictions, we went to the course for a game. It was the first time in a while that we've been over there. Ryan scored his best game of -2 with some really awesome shots.

After going home to get ready I picked up Joanna and we went to Olive Garden to use some of our gift cards for dinner. We had some really great Portabella raviolis and for dessert we had to go with pumpkin cheesecake. So good.

We went down and met Chuck and Diebra for Quizzo. It seemed like we were doing pretty well but we ended up in third even after doubling our points on a perfect round. A free appetizer was disappointing after all the stuff we won at Rowan trivia.

After stopping at Rowan for a short time and checking out the gallery of the Dusk til Dawn art and hanging out with Josh and Alex in the comp lab, we went to Philly to get pretzels. It's been a while. Joanna had never had them so she got to experience the wonder of soft, hot pretzels fresh from the conveyor belt for the first time.

After checking out a view from center city we headed back over the bridge and stopped at Camden to see the city from one of my other favorite spots at the waterfront. We stood out there for a while but it was pretty cold so we got back in the car.

I got home pretty late so I had to get to sleep right away since I had work in the morning. I tried to anyway, even though it didn't work out that way.
