A pretty easy day at work again as we watched Beetlejuice and the band practiced their parts. It was a little boring, but I've gotten to know some of the students and it's easy. I met Ryan at the gym after work and then we did a 20-minute interval run at the park.

I picked up Christy and we headed to South Street where we got falafel at Maoz. It was her first time and I hadn't had one in a really long time. She approves. We walked around for a while before the show and got some frozen yogurt at Phileo.

We went into the TLA and stashed our jackets before Yellowcard came out and got right into a great set. They are always so much fun. They played a good variety too, even throwing in "Avondale" after talking about how people always want to hear old stuff.

What I don't get it why they play nothing from One for the Kids. Ryan even mentioned one of the songs before telling a story about his aunt recently passing away from cancer and her being the reason the band exists because she encouraged him to do what he wanted. It was really sweet and a nice break before the rest of the energetic set.

We couldn't really do anything after the show so we headed home. It was a good night and I was tired from it all!

The morning was rainy and not fun to wake up to. I went to Westby for a short time and took Cait to drop off some work at her class before coming back to meet Alex and Nathan.

We went to Philly to drop Nathan at the train station and say farewell. We went to Maoz for an overdue first meal of the day. I couldn't get anywhere near eating my whole falafel but it was good, as were the frites. We sat in the window and people watched until we had to head back.

I headed back over to Westby to do some self-portraits in preparation for my form/contortion photo shoots. I was really happy with a lot of the images I shot of myself. I folded myself into interesting shapes to imitate being in a small area.

Christy came to do the first shoot. She did a bunch of poses and I got some really good detail shots that gave me some great ideas for how I want to proceed with this series.

We went over to the book store so I could buy my cap and gown for graduation and get some food. Starbucks has a spinach and cheese stuffed pretzel that is delicious. I also got some Rice Krispies treats.. so good.

Leah came to the studio later to do another shoot of a similar nature. I got some different types of shots, but I also got a lot of the same type to use in the form series. I think I need an actual small area for someone to conform to.

I went to watch some 30 Rock with Cait for a while and then Alex joined us. We ordered food from The Cheesesteak Factory and they gave us extra somehow. Score. I love that show. We got Alex into as well so the night was a success!

I eventually headed home to sleep in my own bed.

Mar 31, 2011

This time I actually got to the bus early and got some breakfast from Jazzman's for the ride. It seemed like most of Westby was on the bus. It was pretty quick trip; we hit some traffic and stopped at a rest stop for some reason, but we got to New York in good time.

We went to Grand Central to meet Susan and found out we had a break before anything was going on because we pushed back our meeting time.

Alex and I met up with Nathan, who just happened to be walking down the same block in Midtown.

We went to Maoz for delicious falafel and hung out in the window acting like mannequins to promote the place. We didn't have a lot of time to hang out so we had to eat quickly and then run off.

We went to Piscatello Design for a "tour" of the office. It was really just one big room with a few desks. It was really cool though. They had some really amazing pieces that they have designed. They have a signature look and they get some high end clients that ask for them. Rosco told us some stories about being in the business and designing things. He's hilarious and really good at what he does. I'd love to work there.

After the inspirational talk, Alex and I separated from the group once more and went to Whole Foods and then to Jamba Juice so I could have a delicious smoothie while she made peppery lemonade with her fresh ingredients.

We walked around Chelsea to a few paper and art supply stores looking for portfolios and to a camera shop where I almost got a lens. I might go back for it if I can't find a better deal somewhere.

We went to the Whole Foods at Union Square and got some food for the ride home and then headed up Broadway to catch our bus. It seemed like a long trip home for some reason. Maybe because everyone was sleeping.

Unfortunately we got back too late to catch Max's opening, but everything looked great. It's nice to have a jewelry show there; I don't think I've ever seen an all-jewelry show. He does really good work.

I went over to Rowan After Hours to get my free haircut for "guy's night." I had to wait a while, but I got to watch Heather get a mohawk as well. I'm not thrilled with how this guy cut my hair. He did a pretty half-ass job, but I guess you get what you pay for.

I came home after my cut and got to bed somewhat early. I was quite tired from walking around all day.

I picked up Heather and we headed through Philly very slowly because of the Sunday traffic. It could have been much worse but it took a while to get to Wissahickon Creek. Once we got there we headed out on the main trail first and started climbing things. She fell on the way down her first hill but an unleashed dog came and made sure she was alright. This same dog would start attacking a leashed dog just a few moments later and incite a screaming match between the owners of both dogs and cause the daughter of the leashed dog's owners to cry. It was kind of a crazy scene.

We found more rocks to climb farther into the hike after alternating who chose which way to go at each divergence of the path. We were also behind an older man with a parrot on his shoulder for a short time.

I tried some climbs that I couldn't quite do and then I found some that I could do to make myself feel better. Heather joined me for most of them.

I climbed up this part of the rocks to get to the statue. It was pretty difficult in some parts but coming down was worse.

When I did come down Heather had found a crevice to squeeze into. I squeezed in as well and it was actually somewhat comfortable in there. We waited for people to walk by on the trail and quietly stared at them until they noticed and awkwardly looked away or laughed and made strange comments.

This gives you a better idea of what the crevice really was like. Nice and cozy.

When we came to the river we decided to cross it and I committed us to that by throwing my shoes across. Heather did the same but her first one landed upside down in the water. At least it didn't float down stream..

The walk across was only a little precarious in one spot where the water was rushing pretty fast. Once I got past that it was easy besides the rocks hurting my feet.

Once we got into it the water was a really nice way to cool down for a while after all the climbing. We stayed there for a bit, walking around in the water and taking photos as people walked their dogs along the banks.

We sat on the bank until my feet had dried enough to put my socks and shoes back on and then headed onto the next trail. We took a few trails before heading back to the car and seeing what looked like a body in a small crack on the side of the water. We'll never know...

We were both quite hungry so I went downtown to Maoz since Heather had never had it. It was delicious and she agreed. This face reminds me of the best burger ever face Chuck and I were making the other day.

When we got back to Rowan I went to Westby to work in the dark computer lab on my Typography homework for a while. I came up with some good ideas after I sat there for a while listening to Farewell Continental and Copeland.

I went to Heather's once I finished where we watched I Love You, Man while eating pumpkin pie and drinking Yuengling. They're actually a really good combo. There might have been some chips with spinach dip that her roommate graciously shared with us as well.

I love that movie. And pumpkin pie. And beer. And hiking/climbing/fording rivers/crevices and whatnot. And falafel. It was an awesome day.

Apr 20, 2010

I spent most of the morning cleaning, boxing things up and taking things down from my room.

I met Ryan for some games of tennis. We actually got to play a full match this time since there was no worry about the lights. All of the games were close and we had a good time.

I had Modern Art and then Graphic Design. We spent most of the time looking at our posters.. it took a long time.

After class I went with Shannon to Maoz for falafel. It was her first time and she realized how delicious it was and why I go so often. I haven't had it in a while though and now I want to go again already.

We went across the street to Mako's for some drinks. We only stayed for a little while but all of the signs were amusing me. "Warning: Drinking may cause pregnancy." It's not that funny but I was amused. Oh, and "VIP: Visibly Intoxicated Persons will not be served."

We headed home after that, pretty tired and extremely filled with falafel and vegetables. Not feeling great after that.

Dec 12, 2009

After sleeping through the morning, I went to the gym in the afternoon and ran for quite a while. I did some medicine ball exercises then weights and ab stuff in the other rooms. I just wanted to keep going, it felt like I hadn't been there in a while.

I went to where my car had been towed to so I could hand over the title and get my small payment for it and then I cleaned it out. I had a lot of stuff in this car. It took a while to clean out. There was a lot of change in the console too; unfortunately not enough to get a new car.

Arrivederci, Altima. I'll miss that car.. I really liked it. I've had it for a long time and been a lot of places with it. Hey, remember that time I lost my keys at Blue Mountain and had to get it towed from the ski resort to the dealership to get a key made for it? Hah.. good times.. so long, friend.

I picked up Chuck and Shannon shortly after the cleaning to go to Philly. We went to Yakitori Boy for some sushi and to avoid waiting in line at the Troc. We forgot about the mochi, so we got some of that for dessert before going back around the corner to the show.

We came as New Found Glory was starting their set. It was a little awkward seeing them perform acoustically but they pulled it off surprisingly well.

A lot of their songs worked acoustic and others were just for us to imagine that it was actually electric, loud music and there was a crowd of people moshing around us. Jordan said, "This isn't a New Found Glory show, it's An Evening with New Found Glory." And it was a good evening.

Chris Carrabba came out next to take us back to a time when Dashboard Confessional was just him, his guitar and the voices of every person in the room. It was just like one of his old shows before the band, everyone sang along and the crowd was part of the show.

He played a few newer songs but it was mostly old stuff the whole night. The guitarist from Dashboard was helping him out and played one of his original songs during the set as well.

It was exactly what I expected it to be and more, since I figured he would play more new songs but he ended up sticking to mostly old material. Good work, Chris. Also, you have Ken doll hair.

We went to Maoz and had a falafel and fries while enjoying the Christmas-y South Street view.

After I dropped off Shannon and Chuck, I headed home and did some work before going to sleep.
