Jeff and I left earlyish in the morning to go to Tyler for a game of disc golf. It was a perfect day for it; cool and not too humid. Our game was going alright, with enough good shots to outweigh any bad ones.

Toward the end of the 27 holes it seemed like we were getting worse but we both nailed a few putts from a good distance so it made us feel better. After our game we got some food at the salad bar nearby and then headed home. The game took a couple of hours because the course is big. It was fun and I always love going back there.

A while after we got back I went to the gym for a shoulder workout and more ab stuff but I didn't run today. I wasn't feeling it.

I was a little exhausted from the day when I got home so I just relaxed for the night watching tv.

Ryan and I got up early and drove to Tyler State Park for our second Johnny Boge Classic disc golf tournament.

We met Stu, our other player, and took the long walk to our first hole. The game ran pretty smoothly except that we had to wait for the group in front of us on a few holes.

I was all over the place as far as my shots. I had a few really good shots, like this one where I scored a two, and some very poor shots. I had no consistency. I ended out the round with a 90, which is just a few over par so not too bad. We took a much needed lunch break in the car and then threw some discs around until it was time for round two.

I was placed with two other AM2 players for the second round, Todd and Tim. They were nice guys so the round went pretty quick. Unfortunately, I didn't do great. I improved on a few but mostly I did a little worse. The out of bounds hurt me.

I finished with a 64 for a grand total of 154 overall. It could have been much better but it's a six stroke improvement from last year and I tied for fourth place, earning me a Pro Wraith. It was definitely fun and hopefully we'll be able to play some more tournaments this year.

Once I had a chance to go home and clean up I met the guys at Rowan for the battle of the bands to find out who would open the big show in Spring.

We played third and we hadn't practiced so we really didn't know what to expect when we got up there but everything just seemed to come together.

I think we played really well and we all had a great time. The band that played after us was really good as well and they ended up winning the battle. I thought we had a chance at one point but I wasn't upset about the decision at all and I think we all left with smiles on our faces after our performance.

It was a long and tiring day but I had a great time with everything. Sleep is my next reward.

I went up to the train station in Trenton in the morning to pick up Joanna. I got there early, so I got a bagel and sat in the parking lot of Dunkin' Donuts reading my book for a while until the train came in. We first went to America's Best so she could get her eye exam for contacts. Too many opportunities to break her glasses with the things we end up doing.

After she was set up with her lenses we went over to Tyler to play some golf. It was cold and pretty windy. I started to sympathize with Ryan for not wanting to play in this weather.

The wind didn't really affect us much at all, my discs just wouldn't do what I wanted. On a hole by the water it curved way to the right and then rolled slowly from one level to the next down a big hill and then hopped into the river. We looked for a while but to no avail.

It got a little warmer as we walked and played. When there was no wind it was fine. We finished all 27 holes with a few really nice shots and quite a few tree shots for me.

We went looking for something to eat after the course. I used my handy GPS but ended up at a few places we didn't really want to eat at but passed a Domino's so we stopped there. We got some bread bowls (it was much better than it looks in the photo). I also got to open my birthday gifts there in the car. Side note: it was so cold out! We were sitting in the car eating because Domino's has no seating and it was just damn cold. Ok, anyway, the first thing I opened was a Charlie Brown Christmas LP. Pretty sweet, I just need to set up my turntable again. Somehow Joanna felt this was "not a Christmas-y gift".... haha.. Next was a bag with a candle (all of my rooms should smell fantastic with all of these candles) and two books. One I had read but didn't own yet and the other was by the author of Trainspotting and looks good.

We didn't really have a plan to kill the next two or three hours until the show so we went to Philly, parked on South Street and walked around looking for dessert. The plan was to stop eating so much sweet stuff but it was my birthday so.... We tried a few places. Gianna's had closed the bakery for this week, the ice cream place was expensive and we couldn't find the Ihop. It wasn't looking good until I remembered the crepe place on Sixth. We walked swiftly back there and ordered a crepe with bananas and ice cream. It was delicious. If only it had Nutella... Chuck and Katie met us there and once we finished eating, we got the car and re-parked right in front of the TLA.

The Starting Line reunion show! I have missed their holiday show... even though it's only been one year that they didn't have it.

We got there in time to see Valencia open. They played really well. There were definitely a good amount of their fans there and they played a good amount of stuff from the newer cd that I like a lot.

The Starting Line came out playing the first few songs on all of their albums and then cut into some fan favorites. The place didn't seem sold out even though it has been for quite a while. The crowd was good though and that is always helpful.

Kenny seemed really excited to be playing like always and he involved the crowd as well. It was great to see them play again and sing along to songs I haven't seen played live in a while.

It was a long day of awesomeness and I was pretty tired once we got back home. Happy birthday to me!

Nov 15, 2009

We started out pretty early and drove up to Tyler State Park to play the awesome disc golf course there. There were a few groups in front of us at first so it was slow going for a while. It wasn't long before we were spaced out enough that we didn't have to wait at all.

It seemed like it took a long time to do the course but it is 27 holes and some of them are long. We lost discs a few times too but we ended up finding all the ones that got away plus a couple more.

We took a break from the game towards the end to climb on the tires.

We also started looking for faces everywhere because we're doing a photo project with the idea. I saw one in this can handle.

After the game, we put our discs back and headed out with our cameras for a hike. We found a much better trail than last time I was out at this park. We walked along the stream and in it for a time.

There were some fallen logs and other things to walk across. I didn't have any problem getting across them this time. I guess it was just a bad day for me when I went hiking with Ryan a few weeks ago.

After we got away from the stream and through the woods some more, we came across a corn field where we took more pictures. The sun was setting and allowing for some really good shots. We made our way back to the car just as it was getting too dark to see where we were walking.

After I dropped Joanna off at her place I headed home. I hung out at Katie's for a while and found this face in her phone.

After a tiring day, I came home to try to sleep..

Jeff and I planned to go to the park outside of Philly for a hike but I decided to go up to Tyler State Park instead. We took some time walking the hiking trails but they were pretty disappointing. Mostly it was paved trails and only a few dirt trails in the woods.

Since the disc golf course has a fairly strenuous trail to it anyway, we decided to play a game. We played all 27 holes and the trail was much nicer than anything I saw when we were following the designated hiking trails.

We got back in time to meet up with Dave, Cory, Terry and Flanni to play some home run derby. I think I hit 3 over the fence and they were all in a row. I had to climb up on the batting cage to get a ball, that's why this picture has this perspective.

I came home went for a long bike ride before coming home to get some sleep.

Ryan and I got up early and headed back to Tyler Disc Golf Course for our first Tournament. We registered and took some practice shots before we were rounded up and put in groups.

We met our third and headed off to our first tee. We hung up our bags and waited for the official start.

We started on hole one, which was lucky for us because it was close. We played through all 27 holes, learning some things about tournament rules while we were at it. The guy with us was nice and helpful so that was a plus.

I finished the first round in the low 90s. We took a break for lunch and went to the grocery store to eat at the salad bar. We returned and did some practice until it was time to start round 2. Ryan and I were separated by score into other groups.

The next round was only 18 holes and the group wasn't as fun just because they weren't very talkative. I had a good time anyway though and a pretty good game. I finished that round in the 60s and ended up with a final score of 160 for the tournament.

After we finished and handed in the scorecards we waited in the pavilion for the tally and announcement of winners.

I ended up tied for eighth place in my division and was awarded with a free Roc with Tyler Park graphics. I was happy enough with that prize.

Later, Katie and I went to hang out with Christie and Tracy. We watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall and drank a good amount. We tried to play Wii for a while but that got old fast. We had a lot of fun just hanging out and laughing though. Good day.

Ryan, Nate and I headed off in the morning to the Tyler State Park course in Newtown, PA.

The course was amazingly beautiful in the forest. The scenery itself was worth the drive but the course was awesome as well.

There were 27 holes, some named like this one.

It also had a great rotating pin system with markers on each tee sign letting you know which position the basket was in.

Another great amenity was the bag holder at each tee. They thought of everything.

There were some great picturesque views behind some baskets.

We all had some pretty good shots and some bad ones.

Definitely a course I would return to as soon as possible. I finshed one over par I believe.

The rest of the day was spent trying to get some of my paper done, not very successfully, and then going to bed early.
