I worked for Ryan at Wood School during the day. He had 3 classes. One of them I had watch OK GO videos and the other 2 I took outside to be crazy on the playground. That was the best way to handle them. It worked out pretty well. The big breaks felt long though. Becca and I went to New Brooklyn Park to play disc golf while the weather was nice, but after 9 holes we were just not feeling it. It's confirmed that I just don't like that course.

We called an audible and headed to Cape May Brewery. They had a bunch of stuff on tap and a good amount we hadn't tried so we got some flights. The Key Lime Corrosion wasn't nearly as good as the regular, but the DemiSemiSeptCentennial was really great. The Geek Out IPA was good too. Avalon Coffee Stout was something I was looking forward to, but it was disappointing. I got a couple pints of the Demi which I enjoyed even more than the sample. We also had a little taste of their mango habanero soda which was surprisingly refreshing.

We started the day with yoga at Heart Beet Kitchen. April was our instructor and we did a great flow class with some poses I couldn't quite hold, but I enjoyed it all. I was feeling the squats immediately afterward, and after smelling the delicious food the whole time we finally got to the real reason we got up at 7:30am on a Saturday to drive an hour: the BLT. And it was worth it.

We came home and spent the rainy afternoon working on our respective things at home. Becca studied and worked on flash cards while I went through photos and did a lot of editing. The cats helped by sitting on us randomly.

I picked up Chuck and we headed to Cape May Brewery where Tracy and Mike and met us a short time later. We did a couple flights to try the handful of beers we hadn't had before. The Erosion sour was pretty good, but not as tart as the Corrosion. The Snag & Drop double IPA was really good, and there was a mixed berry pale ale that we all agreed tasted like Fruity Pebbles.

We went to drinking pints because we never do that and we know what we like now. We alternated getting the Three Plows IPA and the Corrosion. It's a really interesting story; just ask Chuck. We discussed our differing definitions of ski trail difficulty while we tried to come up with a plan to go skiing soon. After one last beer the place was closing down so we headed out.

We made a quick stop at the liquor store for Chuck to pick up a 6-pack of the Cape May King Stomp Porter that he was enjoying at the brewery and then headed back to Becca's to play Wii for a bit. We started playing Mario 1 on the emulator, but we quickly decided to move to Super Mario World.

It became clear that we were getting through the game tonight by playing all the levels. Chuck and I debated the point of the game, where I believe it's to spend time and enjoy it, he kept saying he could just use the warp to get to the end faster. It was a good semi-drunk discussion. There were some levels that seemed much harder than they should have. By the time we were done it was really late so I took him home and came back to get to bed.

It's funny that when I'm coming from Philly I'm early to work, but when I'm 5 minutes from the building I'm always running late. I skipped breakfast because I knew I had first block off at Memorial this morning, but then they were running short on subs so I had to cover all of first block after all. Luckily it was a co-teaching class with another sub who was cool with me dipping out long enough to go to Shop Rite for a banana, almonds, and tofurky for lunch. That was good enough. The first class was challenging, but overall it was fine.

I spent the rest of the day in the gym. 2 of the 3 blocks the other teacher took over, pitching and all the rest. I got a chance to pitch once for a bit, but mostly I stood in the corner on my phone, watching them play. I also bought tickets for Dashboard and NFG whilst I whiled away the time. The last block we went to the weight room for a short time and then I came back and ran my own game of mat ball until the end of the day.

Alycia came down to meet me and we grabbed some growlers before heading off to Cape May Brewing. We met Jess there once she found her way and we proceeded to order our flights. They only had one new beer on since last I was there a week or so ago, but it was a good one: Sour Apple Corrosion. The Corrosion is their sour IPA, which is fantastic on its own, but tonight I liked the apple version even more.

We got a table and hung out watching the people wander in and out. The bar never got so crowded that it felt like a Friday night, but that's probably in part because it was still before 5pm. It just felt really late. I thought I saw Mike from NJCB, but for some reason I didn't go see if it was him. We talked about Mandy Moore a lot because Alycia mentioned her being in a new show, and I like her as an actor. Funny enough, a song of hers was playing when we walked into the brewery. And the I Know What You Did Last Shandy tastes like Candy and that led to a whole thing about her old songs.

Jess was really hungry so Alycia and I got growlers and headed out to find a Wawa. Jess managed to follow a totally wrong car and ended up going to a different Wawa while Alycia and I made our way around the corner to 7 Mile Brewery. We had already ordered our flights when Jess texted to say she was just going to head out because she was meeting a friend soon. The beer at 7 Mile wasn't very good overall. They had a few pretty decent ones, but it's hard to compare after being at Cape May, where everything is so good. They're also considerably more expensive for everything, which is hard to reconcile with their lower quality. If I'm ever in the area, I'm definitely just going to Cape May.

We finished our Wawa foods and most of the beer in our flights and got on our way back home. Somewhere at the brewery Alycia made a comment about how she always finishes, so I asked "your beer, you mean?" That started a whole series of jokes for the rest of the night about how she always finishes. We also drank the last beer in our glasses simultaneously so she said "we finished at the same time!" It was a fun night and I was ready to do more, but once I got home and no one was up for anything I was happy enough to get in bed early. I talked to Becca on the phone for a bit about her amazing day hiking at the Grand Canyon before I put on Westworld and kept my eyes open for about half an episode.

Go ahead, read the bold, underlined part. Yeah. All I can say is that the classes were actually pretty well-behaved. I didn't expect that since this teacher's classes last year were terrible. And that's even by Lakeside standards. Sadly, they just worked on their test and packets for the whole class. I usually expect him to leave a Bill Nye video and I always enjoy that. It was a pretty long day.

After work Kate, Chuck, and I headed down to Cape May Brewery. They were having an "industry night" with specials. Apparently I don't know what that is because when I got there I was told it's only specials for people from the bars that serve their beer. After showing a few pieces of NJCB identification we were granted the discount anyway. We used our sample chips to do a flight of all the beers on tap. The Pale Ale and City to Shore Double IPA were both quite tasty. The Stout was good, but the Avalon Coffee Stout was great. Overall I can usually take or leave their beer. I used to like the atmosphere there a lot more, but now that they've expanded it seems less friendly beer guys pouring and chatting with you than a hip brew pub. Oh well. So it goes.

After we came home I had some food before heading back out to meet Davonne at the movie theater to see Runner Runner. I hadn't seen her in a while and we had been talking about seeing a movie for some time, but we rarely have similar schedules or similar taste in movies. The movie was quite good. I like Justin Timberlake as an actor and of course I like Ben Affleck so the pair was a win for me. A busy and fun day, it was. Good prelude to sleeping.

After a run along the river trail in the morning Kate, Shannon, and I went down to Cape May Brewery in the morning to check out what they had. It was much smaller and much more crowded than I expected. They had three beers on tap and we each got a glass and got in line to sample them.

We all enjoyed all three of the beers. The Honey Porter and Hefeweizen were really good. I talked to Ryan, one of the brewers/owners, for my blog and he let me sample the two versions of their IPA. Everyone there was amazingly friendly and enthusiastic.

After we left we headed back up 47 to Natali Vineyards where they were having a little winter wine festival. They had a bunch of wine out for samples. We sampled most of their offerings, but the fruit wines like the banana and the strawberry were really fantastic! Quite a few of the wines were very good and stood out among the average ones. It was a lot of fun.

After packing up Kate's car and getting our stuff together we headed up the Turnpike and through New York on our way toward Boston. There wasn't too much traffic all the way up.

We stopped in Providence for the night and went to Trinity Brewery downtown. The place was pretty packed and had quite a nice selection to check out. After we each got a pint and stood off to the side talking for a while, we managed to grab a seat at the bar.

We ordered the sampler and got some barbecue pork nachos to go with it. The nachos were so good! The Wolf's Breath was the best beer we tried. I think it was a barleywine, but it was really sweet with a great aftertaste.

After finishing our sampler and hanging out there for a while longer we came back across the street and parked in the empty parking lot and took to the back of the car to set up a bed. We had plenty of blankets to keep us warm, and it was a good things since it was freezing. It was only mildly uncomfortable, but we made it work.
