Aug 23, 2009

I slept in, sort of, after going to bed at 3 or 4 last night/this morning. When I got up I got a few things done before meeting Shannon at Rowan and taking the unnecessarily long drive around all the annoying construction to get to Landmark.

I had a few Hoegaardens and Shannon insisted on a Jolly Rancher shot. They really don't taste like anything, just pure sweet. It felt kind of weird to be drinking during the day. I walked her back to her apartment and then came back to get my car.

I went to Maureen's to sober up but we got more beer and a pizza from Nick's. The hot peppers were awesome. We watched Yes Man. It was pretty good. Then we watched some Planet Earth stuff on Discovery before I headed home.

I met up with Ryan as soon as I got back and we went for a pretty long walk around my area. I've been trying to finish Dead Like Me but it's taking some time.

Aug 22, 2009

After the crazy rain last night and in the morning, the day was pretty nice so I took a ride to Laurel Lake and back just to feel like I had done something. It was a good ride.

Kim texted me saying she needed art supplies and wanted to go to Philly so I met her at Rowan and headed to Utrecht on Broad Street.

I got some more scavenger hunt photos while she browsed the art supplies. It was nice to not need any for myself this semester even though I kind of wish I had more art classes..

After shopping we were both really hungry so we went to the Bubble House for food. I got a Kiwi Mango tea, good choice... It was Kim's first time with bubble tea so she was hesitant but once she tried mine she loved it. It's the bubbles.. I ordered the Thai Coconut rice seitan that I got last time we came. It wasn't as good this time but it was still really good. I think I built it up too much after the last time.

We went to South Street after eating and this is what happened. It wasn't raining too bad when we walked down but when we started to walk back to the car it just poured.

We spent some time in Repo Records trying to wait it out but it wasn't happening so we just huddled under my small umbrella and walked back to our parking garage. On the way home we stopped at Deptford Mall, which has no music stores anymore, and then went to Best Buy so she could get some cds. It was a fun time, we should have hung out more this summer.

After I dropped Kim off at Rowan I met Ryan at Applebee's for some late dinner. I got a veggie quesadilla burger that was really good after they originally told me they didn't have veggie burgers.

Post dinner, Ryan came back to my house and we got into some Donkey Kong Country 2 for a while and then went for a short walk around the neighborhood before calling it a night.

I didn't do a lot in the morning besides a short bike ride and watching Dead Like Me. I went to Philly later where the weather was not looking good. I went to the Bubble House and picked up tea for myself and Jen and then headed to her house.

We spent the night watching tv and she made spicy seitan and rice for dinner. We watched The Break Up and then a bunch of episodes of Michael and Michael Have Issues. It's pretty hilarious. Micah was enjoying the thunderstorm going on during all this. When Stephen got home we watched some stand up before I decided to drive home in the pouring rain. It was a slow, slow drive most of the way but I saw some awesome lightning while I was on the highway. Sadly, no pictures.

After a while of not having anything to do a scavenger hunt was suggested so I asked people for ideas for photos. I got some suggestions and headed out to try to get the shots. One idea was a butterfly, which I thought would be a longshot but ended up being one of the first things I found.

I went to Parvin's to look for some more (and also to charge my camera battery that died while shooting butterflies.) I got some decent shots that I will post later once I've found everything. I went and got some Chinese food to eat before I met up with Ryan.

We played most of a game of disc golf before quitting and deciding just to walk around the pond because it was so hot.

We took some time to go home and clean up before he came over to finish our game of DK3 and then play some old Mario Kart. That's right, the screen says 1992. People born then can buy cigarettes soon..

After we finished up the game we went for a pretty good walk around my neighborhood. It's been a while since we walked around here.

Aug 19, 2009

I met Katie at The Looking Glass in the morning for breakfast before she had to leave for the airport and go to Ukraine for ten days. We had a vegan breakfast burrito (good to know that they can make them there) and it was very good. Once we were really full we went to Target to get a few things she needed and then she was off to fly over the Atlantic.

I, on the other hand, was on my usual routine at physical therapy. We did add one new exercise to the regime using the leg press but it was generally the same stuff. I can see it improving which is good. I came home for a while after that and went out for a bike ride a little later. I didn't go nearly as far as the other day and I could still feel it.

Later I went to check out Shannon's new apartment at Rowan. We had some wine and made brownies that didn't really turn out so well since there were no measuring cups.

The wine went pretty fast and made me tired as well so I came home and got ready to sleep.

Aug 18, 2009

I had physical therapy at 8am. This is one of the high tech instruments used in my therapy to strengthen my leg. It's really basic obviously but it works. Step ups. Sort of.

I had a quick breakfast and then met Jeff and Chuck and headed to Sedgeley Woods in Philly to play disc golf. We played 18 holes and it was a good game. I had some good shots and some bad ones. Overall I ended up -12 I think. It was a good game. The last nine holes are usually too much so we decided not to do them.

We snaked our way through center city to Sarcone's Deli and picked up some hoagies. I got the Veggie with all the long hot peppers and spicy spread on it. We drove down to Lum's Pond course in Delaware and at them at the picnic tables. Mine was extremely spicy. I could only eat half because it was so huge and I still felt a little sick after. Could have been the heat.

This course is always a lot of fun. I had a few more bad shots on this course but I also had a few really good ones. I think all three of us had the mix of really nice shots followed by annoying misses.

I ended up under par but I don't remember my score. Also, I can climb trees again.

After we got home and showered we met back up at Bennigan's for some Quizzo action. Our main rivals weren't even there to face us after we beat them last week! Good thing for use because we ended up placing third. Jen, Stephen and Micah showed up towards the end of the game for a break from driving home from the shore and hung out until we left.

The day was a lot of fun, I wish we got to do more disc golf trips this summer. There's always the fall, I suppose..

Aug 17, 2009

I went in search of a bicycle repair shop in the morning to get my flat tire taken care of. There aren't many bike shops nor are there many people in those shops that actually care to help you with a bike (or make any money I guess.) I found this place in Bridgeton called Randy's General Store. They were great. He took my bike and started on it right away.

To kill some time while he was working I went down to the zoo.

This was mostly what I saw there. Ducks, geese and chickens just wandering around the walkways and cages. Granted, it was pretty hot but I didn't really see any animals at all that I couldn't see in my own yard.

I finally stumbled upon this bear lounging in a giant Tupperware container. He looks happy.

These guys were looking for some attention, which I gave them for a little while until I got bored of them and headed to the exit. I went to the lake for a few minutes and walked around before I went back to the shop to see how it was coming. I got there just in time for them to finish it.

I decided to do a long ride on my new tired so I got prepared and headed east.

A couple of hours later I ended up in Ocean City.

I had to go to the beach, of course. I stopped and had something to eat and drink before turning around to head back.

I rode back down 49, slightly exhausted into the sunset. In the end, it was 56 miles there and back. I got back in time to take a shower before Jeff, Sam and Katie came over to go bowling.

We had a beer in the bar before putting in our names: KD, Swarley, Samn and Jeff.

Dollar games, shoes and beers is a good incentive to go bowling in Deptford.

Sam got this interesting split and she almost managed to get the spare.

Jeff and I both won one of the first two games and Katie and Sam each won a game as well so we played a third tiebreaker game. I lost to Jeff. Katie won her contest. I got a 175 the first game which is the best score I can recall getting in a long time.

It was a long day but I was surprisingly not overly tired when I got home at night. I watched some Dead Like Me before passing out.
